SUMMARY OF POSITION

We are seeing a motivated Screed Operator for our growing Paving team in Hagerstown, MD. The Paving Screed Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining the screed on asphalt paving equipment to ensure proper mat depth, grade, smoothness, and compaction in accordance with project specifications.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Operate paving screed equipment to achieve proper asphalt thickness, grade, and smoothness.
• Monitor material flow and adjust screed controls to maintain consistent mat quality.
• Work closely with the paver operator, foreman, and crew to coordinate paving operations.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance on screed components.
• Ensure company equipment is maintained and in good running condition by greasing and checking fluids.
  Conduct regular equipment maintenance checks and greasing.
• Follow all company safety policies and job site safety requirements.
• Assist with other paving or labor duties as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous experience operating paving screeds or asphalt paving equipment preferred.
• Strong understanding of asphalt paving techniques, mat quality, and grade control.
• Maintain all tools required for the position.
• Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work overtime as needed, including weekends, as needed.
• Comfortability working in various weather conditions.
• Must successfully pass a DOT physical and drug/alcohol screening.
