About the role

The Utility Operator plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness of the Hunstville Facility. This position is heavily focused on facility housekeeping, waste handling, ash cleanup, and supporting operators with routine operational tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary - Housekeeping & Facility Cleanliness
  • Perform daily housekeeping of tipping floor, boiler areas, turbine deck, ash handling systems, and general plant spaces.
  • Clean around conveyors, pits, hoppers, and equipment to prevent buildup of waste, debris, and combustible materials.
  • Conduct highdusting, sweeping, shoveling, pressure washing, and floor scrubbing as required.
  • Maintain safe and clear walkways, stairwells, platforms, and equipment access areas.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with plant housekeeping standards and environmental requirements.
  • Assist with ash cleanup, manual removal, and ensuring ash containers and conveyors remain free of obstructions.
  • Help manage waste buildup around hoppers, tipping floor push areas, and compaction zones.
  • Support safe handling and movement of materials around the waste pit and process areas.
  • Assist Operators by performing basic equipment checks and reporting abnormal conditions.
  • Record simple readings (temperatures, pressures, levels) as directed.
  • Support preparation for lockout/tagout or equipment cleanout tasks under supervision.
  • Help during outages with cleanup, debris removal, and equipment staging.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all safety procedures including PPE use, hot work guidelines, and confined space awareness.
  • Identify and report hazards, spills, leaks, and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Participate in safety briefings, drills, and ongoing training programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED. (Required)
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting 50+ lbs, repetitive shoveling/sweeping, and working in hot, dusty, or noisy environments.
  • Strong emphasis on safety and ability to follow established procedures.
  • Willingness to work shift schedules, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • Experience performing industrial or facility housekeeping, janitorial work, construction labor, or similar physical work. (Preferred)
  • Previous exposure to industrial equipment or mechanical processes. (Preferred)
  • Ability to operate or willingness to learn forklifts, skid steers, or similar small equipment. (Preferred)

  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail in housekeeping tasks.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and take corrective actions.
  • Reliability and willingness to learn plant systems over time.

Pay Transparency

Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and we strive to provide competitive compensation and benefits packages. The range below reflects Reworld's reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future.

The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $43,100.00 - $57,400.00 USD. For hourly roles, this is the annualized salary. To calculate the hourly rate, divide by 2080.
