Company Description

Tyler Union is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Product Engineering Manager to join the team. The ideal candidate will oversee product innovation, ensures compliance with industry standards, and partners closely with Operations, Quality, Sales, and Supply Chain to support growth, customer satisfaction, and manufacturing excellence. The Restraint Product Engineering Manager is a key driving force in the development and implementation of a proactive culture that aligns with The McWane Way Safety Principal, Value, and Behaviors.

Job Description

Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Product Leadership & Strategy
    • Lead the product engineering team supporting TruGripproduct and related components across the full product lifecycle.
    • Define engineering priorities based on market needs, customer feedback, competitive intelligence, and operational capability.
    • Drive product improvements related to performance, manufacturability, cost, and quality.
    • Manage engineering roadmaps to support long-term business strategy and new product development.
  • Design, Development & Technical Oversight
    • Oversee product tooling, modeling, simulation, and drafting using CAD/FEA tools
    • Ensure all product configurations meet applicable regulatory and industry standards.
    • Approve engineering drawings, specifications, mills of materials, and technical documentation.
    • Lead root-cause analysis and engineering countermeasures for product issues, field failures, or customer complaints.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with Manufacturing and Foundry Engineering to ensure designs align with casting, machining, and assembly capabilities.
    • Support Sales and Customer Service with technical expertise, product training, and customer-facing engineering solutions.
    • Work with Quality to develop testing protocols, inspection standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Procurement on raw materials, tooling, and vendor capabilities.
  • Testing, Compliance & Quality Assurance
    • Manage product validation tests, performance testing, and third-party certifications.
    • Ensure products maintain compliance with all current industry standards and agency requirements.
    • Lead design reviews, process validations, and product audits.
  • Team Leadership
    • Coach, develop, and mentor engineers, designers, and technical staff.
  • Project & Budget Management
    • Oversee engineering project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
    • Manage departmental budget, capital requests, tooling investments, and project resources.
    • Ensure timely execution of product releases, engineering changes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of product engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (metals, castings, machined components, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of waterworks fittings, restraints, or related infrastructure products.
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams or managing complex engineering projects.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
  • Understanding of foundry processes, machining, assembly, coatings, and testing methods.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Management, preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferred.
