Aon is hiring for a North America AMATS Operations Director for our Transaction Solutions and Risk Advisory Practice.

Aon is seeking an AMATS Operations Director to lead operational excellence for a [200]+ person, highly specialized advisory team focused on transaction insurance broking and risk and benefits due diligence in M&A transactions.

Reporting directly to Aon Business Services and Commercial Risk executive leadership, the COO will be responsible for overseeing the M&A and Transaction Solutions business' North American day-to-day operations, driving scalable infrastructure, enhancing process rigor, and enabling sustainable growth. This leader will also play a critical role in optimizing and expanding the firm's use of client management and workflow platforms - with particular emphasis on DealCloud adoption, integration, and performance enhancement, Risk portfolio solutions and upcoming Aon's broker co-pilot platform.

The ideal candidate brings strong operational leadership experience within a professional services, financial services, insurance, or advisory environment and has successfully implemented or optimized enterprise CRM/workflow platforms to improve productivity, reporting, and client delivery.

This is a hybrid position is based in North America (New York, NY, Chicago, IL, or St. Louis, MO) and may require 20-25% travel.

What the day will look like:

Strategic & Operational Leadership:

  • Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute the firm's operational strategy in alignment with growth objectives.
  • Prioritize engagement and utilization of global resources through Aon-dedicated global centers.
  • Establish performance metrics, KPIs, and dashboards to drive transparency and accountability.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, resource allocation, and operational planning.

Process Optimization & Infrastructure:

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across transaction workflows, client engagement processes, and internal collaboration.
  • Standardize procedures for broking operations, due diligence processes, and client reporting.
  • Implement automation and workflow enhancements to improve speed, quality, and risk management.
  • Strengthen data governance and reporting capabilities across the organization.
  • Coordinate with firmwide and global operations
  • Manage billing operations and the TS billing team

Technology & Platform Leadership (Initial DealCloud Focus):

  • Own strategy and optimization of the units technology platforms including DealCloud, risk portfolio solutions, broker copilot and claims co-pilot.
  • Drive deeper adoption and workflow integration across broking and diligence teams.
  • Identifying and operationalizing opportunities to enhance data capture, reporting, and analytics capabilities across broking, innovation and claims.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to improve platform performance.
  • Lead change management efforts tied to new technology implementations.
  • Evaluate additional systems that improve operational efficiency and client experience.

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Ensure operational processes align with insurance, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
  • Develop risk mitigation frameworks to support transaction execution.
  • Implement controls and documentation standards appropriate for a highly regulated environment.

Talent & Organizational Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop operations and support teams.
  • Foster a high-performance culture centered on accountability, collaboration, and client excellence.
  • Build cross-functional alignment between broking, diligence, finance, HR, and technology teams.
  • Support professional development and succession planning initiatives.

Skills and experience that will lead to success:

  • 6+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, preferably within:
    • Professional services
    • Insurance brokerage
    • Financial advisory
    • M&A advisory
    • Transaction services
  • Experience managing large, highly educated professional teams.
  • Demonstrated success in CRM/platform implementation and optimization.
  • Direct experience with DealCloud strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of operational risk management in complex client-facing environments.
  • Proven ability to scale infrastructure during periods of rapid growth.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and executive presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead with influence

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, or related field (MBA preferred).

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $134,600 to $170,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
