Job Summary

The Production Specialist will plan and establish production schedules for the facility while balancing production capacity with sales and order demand. They will work with management to create and maintain a long-range "build plan" forecasting production levels for the coming three-month period. The Production Specialist is a leader who will embrace change and lead our scheduling efforts to new levels of competitiveness.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule all production activities
  • Maintain level and efficient capacity loads through all work centers, utilizing resources and tools in the ERP system
  • Make recommendations to the Production Manager to adjust resources as required to balance work center demand with overall manufacturing capacity
  • Coordinate and communicate with Manufacturing, Project Management, Engineering, and Purchasing to assure optimum manufacturing economies are met while maintaining exceptional responsiveness to the customer requirements
  • Create and release job work orders for travelers to production
  • Review daily production capacity and level load jobs to optimize resources
  • Create and maintain build plan based on current Sales backlog and forecasted orders
  • Monitor new project startups to ensure adherence to the Project Launch schedule as defined by Project management
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Plan, maintain, and monitor work order releases to the plant considering work center capacities, manpower, and availability of materials to ensure that the required products are completed on time
  • Make recommendations to adjust resources to balance existing and planned workloads against available capacities
  • Schedule jobs upon receipt of travelers from the engineering
  • Release a weekly plant schedule by the work center using the Shop Load Detail Report from Vantage
  • Print the schedule for each work center and distribute it to the respective supervisor
  • Print a total plant schedule for wood and metal distribution to respective Production Managers.
  • Report job status and scheduled shipments in weekly production meetings
  • Monitor and analyze work canter loads
  • Create reports to show imbalance and make suggestions to manage and balance work center loads
  • Adjust work center capacities to reflect plant personnel changes
  • Work with Production Managers and Supervisors to verify data collection through Labor edit report
  • Manage the job completion cycle by completing jobs daily
  • Analyze collected labor and material transactions upon job completion and identify any issues. Review and resolve issues with Production Managers. Prepare a weekly report of candidates for job closing
  • Balance WIP report weekly
  • Check for shipping errors, data entry errors, and valuation errors

Qualifications

  • 5 years experience in an operations role in a manufacturing environment, consumer environment industry preferred
  • 3 years scheduling specific experience in a manufacturing environment, consumer environment industry preferred
  • Strong understanding of ERP software
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to express oneself professionally utilizing both verbal and written communications
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate within a muli-departmental team
  • Must be able to work well under pressure to meet deadlines
