Overview
BigBear.ai is seeking aShipyard Simulation & Implementation Consultant (AI Capacity Planning)to support the deployment and adoption of our shipyard capacity planning and simulation solutions. In this client-facing role, you will partner with shipyard stakeholders to collect andvalidateoperational data, translate planning and scheduling needs into solution requirements, supportconfigurationand rollout, and deliver training to ensure long-term success.You'llwork in a collaborative, remote-first team environment while engaging directly with shipbuilders to improve throughput, resourceutilization, and execution predictability through AI-enabled planning.
What you will do
- Lead and support shipyarddiscovery and onsite/remote data collection, including process walkdowns, interviews, and documentation of planning/scheduling practices
- Develop andmaintainstrong working relationships with shipyard personnel (planning, production, engineering, industrial engineering, IT, and leadership)
- Translate operational needs intoclear requirements, process maps, and implementation artifacts(e.g., use cases, workflows, configuration inputs, validation criteria)
- Support the configuration, testing, and deployment ofShipyard AI capacity planning and simulation capabilities, including user acceptance testing support
- Assist with solution designfor proposals, pilot efforts, and follow-on work; contribute to implementation plans, timelines, and risk/issue tracking
- Delivercustomer enablement, including training sessions, documentation, office hours, and adoption support
- Provide structured feedback to product and engineering teams based on shipyard insights, enhancement requests, andobservedgaps
- Participateincustomer presentations and product demonstrationsin support of growth opportunities
- Troubleshoot customer issues as needed and coordinate with internal teams to drive resolution
- Travel to customer sites asrequiredto support deployments and stakeholder engagement
What you need to have
- Bachelor's Degree and 2 to 5 years of experience; Master's Degree and 0 to 3 years of experience; 8 to 10 years with no degree
- Clearance: Able to obtain
- Experience in shipbuilding, defense, heavy manufacturing, or similar complex production environments (U.S. Navy shipbuilding experience is a plus)
- Demonstrated ability to work with operations stakeholders to clarify needs, document workflows, and drive implementation outcomes
- Strong communications kills-able tofacilitateworking sessions, synthesize findings, and present to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and delivering results in a customer-facing consulting environment
What we'd like you to have
- Experience supporting large-scale software implementations usinga structured delivery approach (Scrum/Agile preferred)
- Familiarity with requirementsanalysis, business process modeling/mapping, methodologydevelopment, and basic data modeling concepts
- Understanding of planning concepts such as bottlenecks, constraints, resource leveling, throughput, WIP, takt/cycle time, and scheduling tradeoffs
- Experience supporting solution demos andproposal development in partnership with sales and delivery teams
- Remote-first role with periodic travel to shipyards based on deployment needs (frequency varies by project)
- Collaborative team environment with customer-facing responsibilities during business hours aligned to project needs
