Job Purpose

Provide the leadership and technical knowledge to coordinate the internal/external manned and un-manned aircraft operating in the National Grid service territory. Support aerial coordination and conflict mitigation during all aerial operations. Serve as a centralized hub for flight planning, scheduling, dispatch, and monitoring activities.

Provide services for increased aerial operational efficiencies and risk mitigation.

Key Accountabilities
  • Primary job role will also include cross training in other Flight Control Center roles.
  • Implement best industry standards for a flight control center operation.
  • Assist in creating a proactive program to support aerial de-confliction during all aviation operations on the National Grid system.
  • Collaborate with internal and external resources in the collection and development of the best operational dispatch process for all aviation assets.
  • Plan, streamline, standardize, test and implement new flight center process.
  • Manage all aerial flight requests for assets operating on the National Grid system to also include communications with internal Transmission Control Center (TCC) and neighbouring utility companies and sensitive facilities when appropriate.
  • Write and maintain necessary operational processes and procedures.
  • Stay current with Flight Control Center operational and technological developments.
  • Collect and analyse operational data to identify trends to optimize resource utilization and improve overall efficiency.
  • Participate in Storm Response efforts and activities.
  • Consider safety as the top priority during all aviation operations and have a good working knowledge of the internal aviation Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Prepare, maintain, appropriate records and reports that apply to Flight Center Operations Activities as directed by the Aviation manager.
  • Be knowledgeable in using Flight Center software applications as required.
  • Optimize processes to aid in efficient flight center operations.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with fellow company personnel, leadership and support staff that are engaged in National Grid flight operations.
  • Responsible for a wide range of administrative and general support services. Duties are performed on an independent basis within established guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Business, or other relevant field.
  • Experience in the Electric/Gas Utility industry.
  • Experience in the Aviation industry and throughly familiar with Aviation terms and terminology.
  • Specific certified training in aircraft scheduling and or dispatch.
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a flight operations scheduler.
  • Knowledgeable of the Federal Aviation Regulations applicable to company operations.
  • Proven ability in project management, budgeting, and strategic planning.
  • Effective communication skills - verbal / written and presentation - capable of tailoring communications to meet stakeholder/customer needs.
  • Demonstrates the ability to build an informed, independent opinion of flight control center needs, problems and / or opportunities to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Broad knowledge of relevant industry practices, standards, and legislation.
  • Ability to maintain automation processes while working in technical computer software.
  • Ability to assist with long-term objectives regarding the development of the program.
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks and determine priorities in a complex environment.
  • Ability to build relationships both internally and externally at all levels.
  • Travel on a case-by-case basis for conventions, training and bench marking with other utility companies.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

Salary: $101,000.00 - $119,000.00 USD
