Overview
The Director of IT Governance & Delivery Excellence is responsible for defining, operating, and continuously improving the IT governance and delivery management framework across the organization. This role ensures disciplined, transparent, and predictable delivery outcomes by overseeing portfolio and delivery management, Agile and Scrum practices, delivery governance, financial and vendor oversight, risk and compliance alignment, performance measurement, and continuous process improvement. This position goes beyond a traditional PMO. It serves as the enterprise authority for delivery governance while also leading Agile transformation efforts and stabilizing mature delivery practices. The Director partners closely with IT and business leadership to enable effective decision-making, manage risk, and drive consistent, high-quality outcomes across IT. What We Provide

What You Will Do * Own and operate the IT portfolio management framework across programs, projects, and product initiatives. * Establish intake, prioritization, and funding governance aligned with business and IT leadership. * Ensure delivery commitments align with capacity, strategic priorities, and financial constraints. * Provide executive-level visibility into portfolio health, delivery risks, and cross-team dependencies. * Delivery Governance, Agile & Scrum * Define and enforce delivery governance standards across Agile, Scrum, waterfall, and hybrid delivery models. * Lead Agile and Scrum transformation initiatives while also operating and stabilizing mature delivery practices. * Establish expectations for delivery roles, ceremonies, artifacts, and performance. * Govern (not micromanage) the use of delivery tools such as Azure DevOps, Asana, or similar platforms. * Track delivery issues, risks, and dependencies, ensuring timely escalation and resolution. * Balance speed, quality, and control through pragmatic, lightweight governance. * Financial & Vendor Management * Serve as the first line of engagement with Procurement and Vendor Management for all IT-related financial and vendor activities. * Partner directly with Procurement on sourcing strategies, contract negotiations, renewals, and vendor onboarding. * Work with Vendor Management to monitor vendor performance, delivery outcomes, and contractual obligations. * Partner with IT leadership to manage budgets, forecasts, and investment tracking. * Provide transparency into run versus change spend and delivery return on investment. * Ensure financial controls and vendor governance align with audit, compliance, and organizational requirements. * Risk, Compliance, Audits & Policy * Own IT governance policies, standards, and delivery control frameworks. * Coordinate internal and external audits impacting IT delivery and operations. * Ensure delivery practices align with regulatory, compliance, and risk requirements. * Partner with enterprise risk, compliance, and security teams as needed * Dashboards, Metrics & Reporting * Define and own IT delivery, financial, quality, and performance metrics. * Design, build, and maintain executive dashboards using tools such as Asana, Azure DevOps, or related platforms. * Shift reporting from activity-based metrics to outcome- and value-based insights. * Enable data-driven decision-making across IT leadership and business stakeholders. * Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement * Lead Lean / Six Sigma-inspired process optimization initiatives across IT. * Identify systemic delivery bottlenecks and inefficiencies. * Standardize processes where necessary while preserving flexibility where appropriate. * Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. * Leadership & Collaboration * Lead and develop managers responsible for portfolio management, delivery governance, and process optimization. * Act as a trusted partner to IT VPs, Product leadership, Architecture, Infrastructure, and Data teams. * Influence outcomes through a combination of governance authority and coaching. * Present regularly to executive leadership, business stakeholders, and audit bodies. * Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Licenses and Certifications: PMP Certification preferred
Education: Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or related field required
Work Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in PMO, IT governance, delivery management, or related leadership roles required
- Proven experience leading enterprise delivery governance and Agile/Scrum practices required
- Six Sigma or Lean process improvement experience preferred
- Experience in healthcare or other regulated environments preferred
- Strong technology experience creating and maintaining delivery dashboards and metrics using tools such as Asana, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms required
- Demonstrated ability to translate delivery data into clear executive-level insights required
- Experience partnering directly with Procurement, Vendor Management, Finance, and IT leadership teams required
Pay Range
USD $154,400.00 - USD $205,800.00 /Yr.
