Summary Job Description: 2A ICU is a 21-bed medical/surgical ICU serving high acuity medical ICU patients. The unit population is cardiac interventions, SARS, Cardiogenic shock, Rotoprone, Post-partum critical care patients and complex care ICU patients most of which have a medical or cardiac diagnosis. Charge Nurse Part-time, Days Job Description:
- Under the direction of Unit Director, Clinical House Supervisor, +/or Designee, provides supervision ofworkflow and staff for a designated shift in overseeing the efficient functioning of the department.
- Assuresthe provision of patient care, by addressing performance, risk management, patient, family, and physicianissues/concerns as appropriate.
- Role models caring behaviors in relationships with others. The ChargeNurse is an exemplar for compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy honoring nursing as a distinctdiscipline and supporting an environment focused on healing and wellness.
- As a clinical nurse, the chargenurse spends majority of his/her time (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient careactivities on the unit through: provision of nursing rounds, assessments and treatments; facilitatingadmission, transfer and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education; carecoordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable, etc.
Requirements:
Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky. Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university. Those with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor's degree program and musthave achieved the degree within 5 years. One year related experience Basic Life Support- Applicants will have 30 days from their hired date to provide completion of this certification if they don't have it already. ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of Assignment.
