LOCATION OF (1) POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED: DEPARTMENT OF DISABILITY AND AGING (DDA), WEST TENNESSEE REGIONAL OFFICE, SHELBY COUNTY

A Motor Vehicle Records screening will be conducted prior to employment.

This position is designed as Hybrid (In office and Remote).

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to one year of full-time work in one or a combination of the following: teaching; educational administration; development of instructional materials for academic programs; or professional training.

Substitution of Experience for Education: Any teaching or training experience, or any remaining professional experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of four years.

Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional graduate course work in one or a combination of the following may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of one year: (1) Human Resources Management; (2) Industrial/Organizational Psychology; or (3) any field related to the design or evaluation of curriculum and related instructional processes, including, but not limited to Curriculum and Instruction, Educational/Instructional Media Design, or Educational Evaluation, Research, and Statistics. (e.g., 36 graduate quarter hours may be substituted for one year of required experience).

OR

One year of professional experience with the State of Tennessee delivering workforce training.

Overview

The Department of Disability and Aging (DDA) is hiring for a Training Specialist 2 who will assist with departmental training needs for the Tennessee State Government. This position requires the development of training materials to ensure employees maintain job competence in compliance with state standards. Planning and coordinating details to facilitate in-person and/or virtual training events will be expected as needed. Competency is expected in working with a large volume of data with great attention to detail. Utilizing software programs including but not limited to Microsoft, Teams, Webex, SharePoint, and online Learning Management Systems is essential for communication, data organization and the creation of training materials. Work products in this role will be subject to annual and unannounced monitoring and audits. This job is eligible for alternative workplace solutions (AWS).

Responsibilities

  1. Compiling, evaluating and inputting training records to ensure compliance with departmental and state policies and procedures.
  2. Prepares and organizes data for state audits.
  3. Uses effective and efficient communication to relay time-sensitive information to meet training compliance.
  4. Gathers information through the creation and implementation of surveys and evaluations to assess staff training needs.
  5. Plans training meetings including coordinating the facilitation, scheduling and all details to ensure beneficial training events.
  6. Assigns courses to employees based on training requirements.
  7. Uses software that includes Microsoft, SharePoint, and two online Learning Management Systems to meet departmental goals.
  8. Communicates effectively with both internal and external stakeholders via electronic, verbal, and written methods.

TN Driver Standards
