We are seeking a Water Resources / Drainage Engineer to join our Transportation & Infrastructure team in Jacksonville. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with minimum 4 years of experience who has exposure to transportation drainage and is eager to grow into a role with production responsibility. Experience with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is strongly preferred. An E.I. Certification is required. A Florida P.E. is preferred but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare stormwater management designs, drainage plans, calculations, and reports tailored for transportation infrastructure projects (roadways, highway corridors, multi-use paths, sidewalks, FDOT-drainage systems).
  • Coordinate drainage design and analysis with roadway and structural design groups-ensure integration for transportation projects.
  • Support environmental permitting and compliance through state and federal entities as required for drainage and stormwater work.
  • Engage in project development tasks, including supporting client relationships, assisting in proposal development, and interacting with transportation clients and agency stakeholders.
  • Participate in drainage/hydraulic analyses, culvert design, stormwater facility layout and design, highway drainage conveyance design, and floodplain modeling.
  • Assist more senior engineers in production of deliverables, and over time take on increasing production responsibility for design and documentation.
  • Maintain awareness of FDOT standards and guidelines for drainage/hydraulics and ensure adherence in design efforts.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (required)
  • Engineer Intern (E.I.) certification (required)
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in drainage or water resources engineering for transportation or roadway projects.
  • Experience working on FDOT projects or with FDOT drainage/hydraulics standards strongly preferred.
  • Florida P.E. license preferred for candidates with the requisite experience for licensure.
  • Knowledge of roadway drainage systems, highway culverts, stormwater management facilities, floodplain modeling and hydraulics.
  • Familiarity with drainage/hydraulic software such as Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD), ICPR/StormWise, HEC-RAS, HY-8 - or willingness to learn quickly.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to build relationships with clients, agencies, and team members.
  • Excellent time-management skills, strong work ethic, eagerness to learn and grow in a production role.

Compensation Range:

$80,965.27 - $107,953.69
