This is a multi-position posting to fill four (4) vacant positions
Primary Purpose of Position
Security for parking decks and surface parking lots.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalency and demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require valid N.C. driver's license.

Essential Job Duties

  • Patrols, monitors, and guards an area with a higher assessed risk, to include parking decks and surface lots on campus and other areas as determined by the needs of Police & Public Safety.
  • Provides support for special events; controls and directs traffic of people and vehicles; erects barricades; provides motorist assistance.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in using a variety of security and enforcement equipment, which may include parking meters, vehicle boots, gates, alarm panels, radios, cameras, and electronic devices.
  • Uses the full functionality of security/surveillance systems.
  • May perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in security practices.

Other Work Responsibilities
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • Knowledge of the policies, rules, and regulations applicable to the property being guarded, sufficient to explain; and experience to apply, and enforce the policies, rules, and regulations; Higher Education experience preferred.
  • Prior experience working in the law enforcement field or closely related area; experience.
  • Experience/knowledge about security work; knowledge of property security and enforcement procedures.
  • Experience with incident reporting and documenting; intermediate Microsoft Suite; Google Suite experience preferred.
  • Strong observation skills; good judgement under pressure; strong attention to details needed.

Necessary Licenses or Certifications
  • Some positions may require valid N.C. driver's license.
