Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Health Educator II for the department of Medicine at the New Jersey Medical School.

Under the direction of the Program Director for Education and Training, develops, implements, and evaluates educational programs and materials related to tuberculosis (TB) to meet the needs of health care professionals and those affected by TB. These programs may take the form of in-person or web-based training courses, lectures, symposia, preceptorships and educational materials including, guides, self-study manuals, etc. and should be consistent with the goals and objectives of CDC funded TB Centers of Excellence objectives, or with other national and international TB prevention and control projects. Undertakes various evaluation methods to determine their effectiveness and assists with the preparation of program applications to government and private funding sources.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Supervises and directs the overall administration of specific educational activities related to TB, including in-person and web-based trainings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Develops and coordinates off site training workshops in conjunction with TB Control Programs in the Northeastern United States.
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify program needs; this may include formal needs assessment or informal monitoring of the provider environment and assessing the needs for TB control and clinical educational experiences.
  • Develops new or revises existing educational materials for health care providers serving clients at high risk for TB and the patients they serve.
  • Prepares comprehensive reports containing technical findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Prepares official correspondence, responds to inquiries as directed and distributesinformational materials.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree plus two (2) years of related experience.
  • Equivalent experience, education and / or training may be substituted for the educational requirements.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills are required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree preferred in the fields of public health, community health, or health education with at least one (1) year experience in coordinating educational activities, performing needs assessments, and field testing educational interventions.
  • Data analysis skills are strongly desired.

  • CHES/MCHES preferred.

  • Physical Demands: Job mostly requires sitting. Some light lifting of boxes for off-site trainings.
  • Work Environment: Standard office environment, including large room for trainings, occasional off-site travel to provide trainings.
