THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position involves a wide range of staff responsibilities related to coordinating the administration of the federal Victims of Crime Act Grant Program, which supports victims in addressing the physical, emotional, and criminal justice-related challenges resulting from victimization. Funds are awarded to approximately 156 community-based, nonprofit victim service programs, as well as systems-based agencies operating across all sixty-seven Pennsylvania counties. Additionally, you will assist in administering the Victims of Juvenile Offenders Program and the Rights and Services Act Program. These programs ensure victims receive information about and access to criminal and juvenile justice processes in accordance with Pennsylvania's Victims' Bill of Rights, the Juvenile Act, the Pennsylvania Rules of Juvenile Court Procedure, and other related initiatives managed by the PCCD's Victims Services Program. Additionally, you will support the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program, the Violence Intervention and Prevention Program, and the federal Violence Against Women Act Program. You will also engage directly with victims of crime and advocate for their rights as provided by law, collaborating with local agencies responsible for delivering these services.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, reporting to the office 1 day per a month and as needed. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the commonwealth's Criminal Justice System Specialist Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of professional experience in criminal or juvenile justice, law enforcement, or victim services, and a bachelor's degree in the social or behavioral sciences, criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
