2026 Application for PDCI Summer Camp Assistant Manager

The College of Engineering and Applied Science Office of Professional Development and Community Impact (PDCI) is hiring a Summer Camp Assistant Manager. The Assistant Manager is the second in charge for the Summer Camp program. This role is one of both curriculum design, logistical/program planning, and daily execution. The candidate must be available for 5 hours per week during the Spring 2026 semester (flexible hours) and full time (35-40 hours) from early May until August. They will serve as an extension of Summer Camps within the office of Professional Development & Community Impact, striving to inform, guide, support, and serve all individuals quality summer educational experiences at the University of Cincinnati - College of Engineering and Applied Science. Students with a teaching/camp counseling background and those with program planning experience are highly encouraged to apply.

General Tasks include:

  • Assistance with engineering curriculum creation


  • Camp lesson plan instruction using educational methodologies and pedagogies


  • Logistical planning and room reservations


  • Classroom Management and behavioral supervision of minors


  • Material inventory and communication of needs to supervisor in a timely manner


  • Communication with parents of minors


  • Supervision of camp counselors

Duties/Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the daily operations of camps, including instruction of students


  • Create weekly/daily schedules


  • Being resourceful and self-starting to ensure all goals are met with limited oversight


  • Confidentiality with student information


  • Maintaining a regular schedule, including time management and transitional time


  • Assisting with creation and development of all camp programming


  • Alignment of camp lesson plans to State and National standards


  • Supervisory experience: will be responsible for hiring camp counselors; providing coaching; and disciplinary action


  • Task delegation


  • Assisting with conflict resolution


  • Act as a liaison for the college with visiting engineering professionals and various camp partnership relations


  • Ensure all safety measures are followed


  • Model professional behavior and attitudes for campers and staff


  • Completing other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Current UC undergraduate or graduate student; with a minimum 2.5 GPA or above
  • 1-2 years teaching experience and/or bachelor's degree in an Education-related field preferred
  • Experience working in camps, with children or with specific activities
  • Ability to pass a background check to work with minors
  • High level of responsibility and accountability
  • Strong Communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Ability to act in stressful situationsand make quick decisions based off prior knowledge
  • Flexible, upbeat, engaging personality
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, group communication channels
  • First aid experience a plus
