The Role:

We are looking for our next QC Lab Technician within our Plaquemine Methocel team. The QC Lab Technician will be responsible for analytical testing for all in-process and finished product samples. The QC Lab Technician position is a 12 hour rotating shift position which rotates between days and nights every two weeks. The QC Lab Technician provides analytical support for the Production department through timely and accurate testing of in-process samples. Testing of all samples are conducted via wet chemistry and use of instrumentations such as gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography mass-spectrometry (GC-MS).

Compensation:

The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $30 - $40/hr. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

What You'll Do:

  • Adhering to current good manufacturing practice (cGMP)
  • Adhering to good lab practice (GLP)
  • Following all procedures related to both lab and EH&S safety practice
  • Conducting all lab analysis according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Organizing, maintaining, and keeping the lab
  • Ensuring all generated analytical lab results are compared to current specifications
  • Documenting all lab results as required per cGMP
  • Effectively communicate with lab co-workers and IFF personnel in other departments
  • Reporting to work in a punctual manner and acting professional in a work environment

What You'll Need:

Education:

  • A.S./B.S. in Chemistry, Biology or a related field is preferred.
  • Updated resume
  • Participate and be successful in an interview process.
  • Currently hold a valid US driver's license

Experience:

  • At least one year of experience quality testing using analytical equipment is preferred. Must have basic proficiency in computers to perform job tasks.

Work Environment:

  • Self-starter and a team player who works effectively with others.
  • Willing and able to work a 12-hour rotating shift and overtime (including weekends & holidays) as required.
  • Able to work with independently with minimal supervision within an empowered team environment
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Have a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs.
  • Stand 50% of the time
  • Walk for extended periods of time
  • Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders
  • Work in tight and closed in spaces
  • Our safety equipment has weight restrictions. In order to qualify, you must be able to use standard safety equipment which is rated for someone who weighs 300 pounds or less
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to a respirator
  • Work in inclement weather.
  • Work in hot, cold, loud environments

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position. Employees will begin working four ten-hour days for approximately one month. During this time, they will complete their new employee integration checklist. Once this is complete, they will be assigned to a shift and begin working a 12-hour rotating shift. The shift is called a 4-2-1 schedule.
