Job Function

A Senior Project Architect is a highly experienced architectural professional responsible for leading complex projects from concept through construction, ensuring design excellence, technical precision, and successful project delivery. This role combines advanced design leadership, deep building systems expertise, project management acumen, and strong client engagement skills. The Senior Project Architect guides project teams, resolves complex technical challenges, and ensures that all project work aligns with code requirements, quality standards, and organizational goals.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Sets design direction, establishes project standards, and ensures alignment with client goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Leads the development of architectural concepts, design strategies, and technical solutions for complex or large-scale projects.
  • Responds to RFIs, provides expert-level technical clarifications, and supports construction-phase decision-making.
  • Leads the development of construction documents and oversees technical detailing.
  • Oversees and approves design documentation, quality reviews, detailed design drawings, BIM models, and technical coordination across all project phases.
  • Manages the architectural workflow for multi-phase or multi disciplinary projects, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Develops and delegates architectural documents, elevations, and sections to junior architects.
  • Develops integrated sustainable solutions to technical and design problems following established standards.
  • Identifies and mitigates design, technical, and coordination risks early in the project lifecycle.
  • Directs quality assurance reviews to ensure accuracy, constructability, and adherence to building codes and zoning regulations.
  • Ensures design consistency across all project phases, from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Prepares construction cost estimates and CSI format specifications.
  • Oversees site visits, field reports, and compliance reviews to ensure alignment with design intent.
  • Attends, chairs, and represents the design project team at construction progress meetings.
  • Presents design concepts, technical strategies, and project updates to client leadership.
  • Serves as a primary or senior-level point of contact for clients.
  • Supports proposal development and participates in interviews for major project pursuits.
  • Coordinates architectural work with engineering disciplines and specialty consultants.
  • Must be fluent in REVIT, Auto Cad, Microsoft Word, Excell, PowerPoint, Blue Beam or Adobe Pro.

  • Performs other duties as assigned to support project and team needs.



Qualification Requirements



  • Bachelor of Architecture from an accredited college or university (or equivalent).
  • Registered Architect License in one or more states.
  • 10+ years of experience in architectural design; within an architecture corporate environment preferred.
  • Project management experience of multiple projects varying in scope and scale, between $500K and $25M preferred.
  • Design of industrial, water/wastewater buildings and hazardous materials code analysis preferred.
  • Ability to develop complete contract documents including drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication, organization, and timemanagement skills.
  • Willingness to attend meetings outside of regular business hours when necessary.


  • Ability to travel to client sites and project locations as required.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.

The expected salary for this position is $144,000 - $176,000.
