Job Title: Maintenance III

Department: Maintenance

Reports: Maintenance Manager

Pay Rate: 40.00 - $50.05

Shift: 2-2-3 work schedule 24/7 (HIGHLY PREFERRED EXPERIENCED MANUFACTURING BACKGROUND)

Position Overview: Perform general maintenance and preventative/predictive maintenance on a variety of blow mold, auxiliary and plant support equipment. Individual is required to have proven knowledge and skill of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic theory and procedure to trouble shoot, perform preventative maintenance and complete necessary repairs. The overall goal is to assist in minimizing downtime due to breakdown repairs and PM's and to optimize the quality of products manufactured to the highest degree equipment is capable of producing.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Plan, lead and execute preventative maintenance (PM) according to PM schedule to minimize and control equipment downtime.
  • Extensive ability to troubleshoot, with creative problem solving to identify and perform equipment improvements while monitoring compliance.
  • Complete reactive maintenance on production lines to recover from equipment failures by repairing mechanical, electrical, and structural components.
  • Create retrofits and fabrication, complete machine tear down/repair and assembly and work on PLCs, VFDs, and electric motors.
  • Must have knowledge of how-to process and maintain production machinery to include:
  • Blow Molding Machinery, Leak Detectors, Bottle Elevators, Table Top Conveyors, Palletizers, Box Erectors, Inserters, stretch wrappers and Case Packers.
  • Perform Mold Changes and Machine Set-up for efficient production starts.
  • Assist in Updating, Developing and Improving PM Programs
  • Supplies own tools to perform maintenance tasks in the disciplines of the scope needed to perform job task assigned. This includes basic electrical test tools, industrial hand tools, some air and hand tools, plumbing tools, welding tools and a tool box adequate to secure the employee's investment
  • Conduct creative problem solving to identify and perform equipment improvements.
  • Coach operators and peers on basic maintenance and equipment settings
  • Participate in special project work on equipment upgrades or installations.
  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Work with team members and operators to ensure the daily production schedule is met, however at times will be required to work independently to complete necessary repairs.
  • Maintain partnerships with team members and vendors using effective communication.
  • Follows all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined by organization. Understands and communicates all hazards and safety issues to co-workers and managers/supervisors. Properly uses all personal protective equipment.

Specific Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Applies knowledge of the following in maintenance and repair of blow mold, auxiliary and support equipment; mechanical electrical pneumatic hydraulic theory and procedure

2. Applies knowledge of machines and processes for each of the following to analyze, setup and maintain equipment for safe and continuous operation:

blow mold drying mechanical systems design construction

Ability to apply knowledge of each technical requirement: Electrical Skills

Ability to read electrical schematics and identify symbols and control circuits with a high degree of competency. Includes ability to understand and trouble-shoot PLC program and logic.

Ability to competently trouble-shoot electrical circuits.

Must be capable of re-working or modifying electrical circuitry in order to change status of machine (i.e. installation of PLC's , change motors, install relays and starters, install control circuits).

Hydraulic Skills

Ability to read hydraulic schematics and identify symbols and control circuits with a high degree of competency.

Ability to competently trouble-shoot a hydraulic circuit.

Must be capable of re-working and modifying equipment to repair, change or upgrade the status of equipment.

Mechanical Skills

Must be capable of performing maintenance on all types of equipment represented in the plant with a high degree of skill and competency.

Must have a reasonable degree of skill with refrigeration, drying, conveying, fluid pumps, blowing and vacuum pumps, pneumatic circuits and welding.

Qualifications:
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED. Some post-secondary education preferred (i.e., Technical or Vocational education is highly preferred).
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the maintenance field required.
  • Demonstrated maintenance & technical skills: Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, PLC
  • Analytical problem-solving skills (DMAIC)
  • Experience must include the proven ability to perform all the specific responsibilities/essential functions of the Maintenance Technician I position.
  • Blow Molding experience preferred.
  • Good display of interpersonal skills and ability to interact with others in a professional and tactful manner.
  • SAP, Basic computer skills (Microsoft office)
  • Effective communication skills
