We're actively seeking a talented Real Estate Attorney to join us. This position can be based in Newport Beach, CA, Charlotte, NC or Omaha, NE. This position is onsite four days a week.

As an Assistant Vice President and Managing Assistant General Counsel, you'll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by leading and supporting the negotiation, documentation, and closing of complex commercial real estate loans on behalf of Pacific Life Insurance Company as lender. The role will also assist in overseeing and providing input for third-party origination relationships for smaller balance transactions, ensuring quality and compliance throughout the process. You will fill an existing role that sits on a team of seven people in the Office of the General Counsel - Investments Team.

How you'll help move us forward:

  • Structure, draft, negotiate, and close secured real estate finance transactions (including term, construction, mezzanine, and co-lender loans) for various commercial real estate asset types (including multi-family, office, retail, industrial, data center, and more).

  • Oversee closing managers, outside counsel, and third-party originators.

  • Mitigate transactional risks and resolve closing hurdles with practical solutions.

  • Implement and expand upon technology-based efficiency solutions, including document automation and document management systems.

  • Stay current on legal developments to update forms and processes.

  • Provide legal counsel and technical guidance to internal investment team.

The experience you bring:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

  • 8+ years' experience negotiating and closing complex commercial real estate loans, preferably lender-side work.

  • Strong legal writing, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of programs.

$190,000 - $235,000

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
