Job Description
In this role, you will lead projects from the FEL/FEED stage through Detailed Design and into Construction Support in a multitude of industries, including Food and Beverage, Consumer Products, Manufacturing, and Utilities. You will also be participating as a Haskell team member to deliver an integrated, functioning facility as specified and contracted. Job Responsibilities:
- Application of Knowledge of Process Systems
- Ensures execution of the scope of services that meets customer's project requirements and complies with all applicable codes, ordinances, standards, and regulations.
- Applies experience and engineering knowledge to develop technical proposals and execute projects in a lead role.
- Plans, conducts and coordinates all discipline engineering functions based on their review of a project scope of work.
- Effectively communicates with other Engineers, Project Managers, Clients and Suppliers
- Directs mentors to, and follows, engineering procedures
- Design
- Participates in project strategy meetings, develops design concepts, and recommends systems.
- Responsible for the production of well-organized, finished drawings of good appearance, accuracy, clarity and correctness.
- Maintains orderly work files and prepares clear, well written correspondence.
- Researches, documents and is responsible for discipline design compliance with all applicable codes, ordinances, standards and regulations.
- Researches and is responsible for discipline design compliance with proposal/client criteria.
- Executes or coordinates with designers for layout.
- Defines and performs and/or checks engineering calculations and analyses.
- Writes discipline specifications for assigned projects.
- Responsible for placement of safety symbols on construction documents as necessary for discipline.
- Leads technical review of project technical requirements with team to define work plan.
- Develops or verifies utility matrixes, equipment lists, equipment specifications and controls.
- Develops and/or reviews discipline specific drawings, schedules and calculations, and provides guidance and input for similar technical documents provided by Design and Project Associates.
- Signs and seals design documents when assigned as Professional of Record. Maintains ethics and professionalism.
- Construction Support
- Participates in plant surveys or field inspections, development of solutions to field problems, preparation of field orders, addenda and record drawings.
- Provides clarification of the design, responding to Contractor inquiries, and serves as lead role for site support.
- Effectively manages project startup, commissioning, verification, and closeout tasks.
- Provides timely solutions to field problems and prepares field orders, addenda, and record drawings.
- Advises and assists Construction Project Managers, Superintendents and Subcontractors in the interpretation and clarification of construction documents.
- Participates as requested in construction inspection to monitor compliance with design intent, construction drawings and specifications. Inspections may occur at the client's site or at a vendor. Prepares inspection reports.
- Project Management
- Represents team in both internal and external (Clients/Vendors) design reviews throughout the project.
- Prepares presentation materials.
- Assists the project team with the identification of consulting partners and pre-qualifies them for appropriate services.
- Writes scope of work (SOW) and develops/assembles all technical drawings required to issue Bid Packages
- Manages bid packages in terms of evaluating bids for technical conformance, participates in overall Vendor selection and provides technical support to the Procurement team throughout the purchase cycle.
- Reviews and comments on vendor submittal documents for conformance with contract documents.
- Monitors client requests against the proposal and known scope of work. Develops engineering change notices under the direction of the Project Manager.
- Leads and/or coordinates work with other disciplines and participates in interdisciplinary coordination checks and QA/QC reviews to minimize deficiencies, errors and omissions in drawings and specifications.
- Leads in creating and/or updating Standards and Procedures for executing projects effectively and efficiently.
- Provides technical guidance, mentorship and training for Design and Project Associates.
- Planning, Scheduling, and Profitability
- Creates a discipline work plan for assigned projects. Monitors workload status, advising supervisor of difficulties in accomplishing schedules.
- Plans production and prepares man-hour estimate for project effort for all work in process discipline. Develops process-related budgets under the direction of the Project Manager.
- Produces pricing and proposal presentation documents.
- Assists in coordinating information with and monitoring efforts/costs of discipline-related outside consultants.
- Tracks actual hours worked each week for themselves and their project team, and informs director if deliverables are tracking within schedule and budget.
- Responsible for ensuring their team produces a well-coordinated, technically sound, complete set of documents reflecting the required scope of work on time and within budget.
- Assists the project team in RFP responses, developing proposals including the preparation of conceptual estimates, schedules, and other proposal documents.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or industrial engineering from an accredited curriculum (NCARB or ABET) preferred.
- 10+ years of industry related experience
- PE License is preferred, but not required
