Position Summary

Arts & Science is seeking a talented Data Analyst to join the Office of Academic Affairs in the College of Arts & Science (CAS). The Data Analyst develops shared data and iterative assessment practices across the College of Arts & Science. Partner with Arts & Science departments and stakeholders to cultivate and elevate a broadly adopted culture of data-informed decision making to support student success and academic excellence within the College of Arts & Science. Collaborate with the Director of Academic Assessment and Analytics to maintain and evolve datasets supporting departments and CAS offices, and drive qualitative and mixed methods analyses via the design and implementation of surveys, focus groups, and interviews across disciplines. Work closely with colleagues across the College and University to coordinate analytical efforts, inform strategic decision making, and provide critical support on initiatives to improve curricula, assessment, and student success.



Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Sociology, Education, Policy, Applied Data Science, or a related field that leverages mixed methods.

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in a related field.

Required Experience:
3+ years relevant experience in data analysis, survey research, qualitative approaches, institutional research, enrollment management, and/or program evaluation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience:
3+ years experience in research, reporting, and/or program/grant evaluation. Experience developing training material or teaching.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and oral). Knowledge of standard office software. Proficiency with data analysis features in MS Excel, R, or a comparable tool. Proficiency in relevant qualitative analysis software, such as NVivo, and analytical coding methods. Experience with Tableau or other visualization tools. Ability to creatively solve problems. Ability to conduct surveys, focus groups, user interviews and provide effective training at all levels of an organization. Proven ability to draft summary reports and present key takeaways in non-technical language. Ability to articulate findings to members of the internal and external community; detailed knowledge of mixed methods research and visualization. Demonstrated ability to collaborate within a complex organization.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of relevant trends related to student success within higher education. Experience with participatory approaches to qualitative research.



Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $72,000.00 to USD $80,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
