The Position

2026 Summer Intern - Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism

Department Summary

Genentech's Clinical Development organization is structured by therapeutic area and is responsible for developing and executing the late development (Phase II - III) clinical strategies and plans that deliver medically-differentiated therapies providing meaningful improvements to patients. Within Genentech, a key therapeutic area is the Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolism (CVRM) space. We have an exciting portfolio of molecules and are actively growing the team to support the various clinical trial activities.

This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.

The Opportunity

  • You will conduct a comprehensive literature review on the current standard of care for managing gastrointestinal (GI) adverse events (AEs) within the evolving incretin therapeutic landscape.

  • You will gather data from real-world sources, ongoing clinical trials, and prior incretin studies to define the state-of-the-art methodology for GI AE management.

  • You will learn and contribute to the medical data review process when appropriate.

  • You will work on applying lessons learned from the literature review process to ongoing medical data review processes when appropriate.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June 2026.

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

Who You Are (Required)

Required Education

You meet one of the following criteria:

  • Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree.

  • Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).

  • Must have attained a Master's Degree.

  • Must be pursuing a PhD or MD (enrolled student).

  • Must have attained a PhD or MD.

Required Majors: Life Sciences, Public Health or a related field.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.

  • Experience conducting literature reviews.

  • Experience reviewing clinical or medical datasets.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $33.00-$53.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
