  • Summary/Primary Objective of Position:
    Under the supervision of the Director of Community, the Recreation Coordinator is responsible for leadership and coordination of recreational classes, programs, leagues and events.

    Job Responsibilities:

    1. Provide coordination, leadership and development of youth and adult recreation programs.
    2. Evaluate the effectiveness of current recreation programs, modify present recreation programs, and develop new recreation programs as deemed appropriate by the Director of Minnetonka Community Education.
    3. Coordinate various aspects of community events including Youth Triathlon, Minnewashta Mud Run, Tour de Tonka, and Tonka Trail Trot. Attend each event.
    4. Actively participate as a member of MCE's administrative team and engage in the development, implementation, and achievement of the District's strategic plans.
    5. Actively participate in the recruitment, selection, staff development, and evaluation of recreation staff members.
    6. Create and revise recreation and event program budgets per direction from Director and Executive Director.
    7. Develops and implements plans to effectively offer recreation programs to maximize impact within available gyms and other District space for MCE recreation programs and activities.
    8. Collaborates and aligns with MHS Activities and Athletics for programs run through Minnetonka Community Ed.
    9. Facilitate problem-solving processes to resolve concerns among students, staff, parents, and community members.
    10. Develop and complete mutual commitments tied directly to the Board Goals and Community Education department goals.
    11. Work in collaboration with the Marketing Specialist to market youth and adult recreation programs and grow participation.
    12. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

    Qualifications:

    1. Evidence of five or more years of successful leadership and supervisory experience.
    2. Bachelor's Degree and related experience in recreation management, community education or relevant field.
    3. Evidence of excellent technical skills, including Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
    4. Evidence of excellent human relation, communication and supervisory skills.
    5. Evidence of ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
    6. Evidence of excellent organizational skills.
    7. Evidence of ability to communicate effectively (both in writing and verbally), and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, staff, parents and the general public to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
    8. Evidence of ability to work autonomously by anticipating, analyzing, and problem-solving various situations as they occur.
    9. Evidence of ability to perform duties under pressure, handle constant interruptions and adjust to changing priorities.

    Salary and Benefits:
    Salary range is $90,000-$100,000 with a competitive benefits package.
    This position will be placed on an individual contract.
