Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee core accounting operations with a strong focus on inventory and cost accounting. This role is responsible for balance sheet integrity, month-end close, and internal controls, while partnering closely with operations to provide financial insight and decision support. The Accounting Manager will supervise a small team and play a hands-on role across general accounting, AR, and AP as needed.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise two team members and manage month-end close activities; review journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Oversee inventory and cost accounting, including valuation, reserves, obsolescence, and cost variance analysis.
  • Ensure accurate accounting for inventory movements, adjustments, and cycle count results.
  • Own balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items and control issues.
  • Provide oversight and hands-on support for AR, AP, and general accounting activities as needed.
  • Serve as a key contact for internal and external audits related to inventory, cost, and general accounting.
  • Partner with operations and supply chain to provide financial insight, recommendations, and decision support.
  • Lead, coach, and develop accounting team members; drive continuous improvement in close and accounting processes.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in general, inventory, or cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Prior leadership or manager experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, inventory and cost accounting principles.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
