Finance Director - Global Supply Chain

The Finance Director, Global Supply Chain is a newly created leadership role responsible for delivering strategic insights and driving cost efficiency across Avient's global manufacturing footprint and operations. Reporting directly to the VP of Financial Planning & Analysis and partnering closely with the SVP of Global Supply Chain, this role will lead financial planning, accounting, reporting, and analysis of operations costs, while identifying and driving execution of cost optimization initiatives. The Finance Director, Global Supply Chain will play a critical role in enhancing visibility into operational cost drivers, enabling data-driven decision-making, and supporting execution of Avient's strategic priorities. As this is a newly created role, the Finance Director, Global Supply Chain, will build a global team capable of providing global, regional and plant level support and insights.

Strategic Partnership & Leadership

  • Act as a trusted advisor and partner to the SVP Global Supply Chain, providing financial guidance to support operational strategy and execution of productivity improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, sourcing efficiencies, and footprint optimization).
  • Close partnership and collaboration with VP FP&A to align operations finance goals with overall corporate strategy, priorities, and initiatives.
  • Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, finance, and accounting teams to gain deeper understanding of cost drivers, identify improvement opportunities, and drive execution of cost actions.
  • Partner with operations leaders to identify change management needs to support and scale cost-conscious, data-driven practices that foster alignment, engagement, and sustained adoption across the global footprint.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead the development of forecasts, budgets, and long-range plans for global operations, operational costs, and productivity improvements.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial models to support scenario planning, capital investment decisions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Enhance forecasting processes to improve accuracy, responsiveness, and alignment with business objectives.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Design and implement dashboards and KPIs to track the total cost to serve across the end-to-end supply chain including but not only manufacturing and operational performance across our footprint.
  • Collaborate with Corporate FP&A, Corporate Accounting, business unit FP&A teams, and manufacturing cost accounting teams to define costing standards and develop standard operational cost reporting.
  • Deliver timely and insightful reporting and analysis of operations financial performance, including variance analysis, strategic insights, and actionable recommendations.
  • Monitor cost performance against forecasts, budgets, and prior periods, proactively identifying risks and opportunities to drive performance improvements.
  • Develop and monitor inventory counting procedures to ensure they are both effective and efficient.

Cost Optimization & Investment Planning

  • Identify and drive initiatives to reduce and optimize operational costs.
  • Evaluate capital investments and operational initiatives to ensure alignment with strategic and financial goals, while maximizing return on investment.
  • Track and report financial impact of productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and implement cost benchmarking frameworks across global sites to identify performance gaps and drive corrective actions.
  • Lead cross-functional cost reviews with operations, supply chain, and procurement to ensure alignment and accountability for cost targets.
  • Drive working capital efficiency, including inventory optimization and improved cash conversion cycles.
  • Establish capital allocation frameworks to prioritize high-return investments and ensure alignment with long-term strategic objectives.
  • Lead post-investment reviews to assess actual vs. projected returns and incorporate learnings into future planning.

Process Improvement & Technology Enablement

  • Champion best practices in cost modeling, forecasting, and financial analysis to enhance decision-making and drive operational performance and results.
  • Build reporting and analytics capabilities by leveraging advanced tools and platforms (e.g., Sigma, HFM, Power BI, Tableau, SAP).
  • Partner and collaborate with the IT organization and Corporate FP&A to leverage digital tools and technologies to enable enhanced analytics, insights, and predictive forecasting capabilities.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

  • Build and lead a high-performing global supply chain finance team, including at the regional and plant level, ensuring alignment with corporate and operational goals.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement across finance and operations teams.
  • Build financial acumen within operations leadership through proactive engagement, training, and partnership.
  • Promote cross-functional alignment and knowledge sharing to drive successful outcomes.
  • Model and reinforce Avient's leadership behaviors, supporting the development of talent across the finance organization
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, with a strong background in manufacturing or operations finance.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in financial modeling, cost analysis, performance management.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and analytics tools (e.g., SAP, HFM, Sigma, Power BI, Tableau).
  • Exceptional communication skills and executive presence, with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights.
