Flint Hills Resources Pine Bend Refinery in Rosemount, MN located in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro is hiring a Mechanical Plant Engineer. This role is a position that builds refinery operations knowledge and understanding and application of key engineering fundamentals. These skills will enable further career opportunities in asset management, reliability or project/construction management.

Our Team

This role will be working on a team of several new engineers of varying engineering disciplines. Team members will work with refinery engineers, technicians, operators, and other personnel to help the facility safely operate and maintain its mechanical assets. Each engineer is assigned a series of on-site rotations to provide engineering support to specific parts of the business. This rotation also provides an opportunity for development and career advancement.

What You Will Do

  • Drive innovation and efficiency through our Principled Based Management culture.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by identifying and controlling hazards.
  • Understand oil flow, refinery units, and basic economics.
  • Apply analytical and engineering skills to enhance EH&S and business operations.
  • Recommend and implement equipment and process improvements to reduce risks, boost productivity, and lower costs.
  • Provide technical support for equipment specifications and design reviews.
  • Lead Management of Change efforts.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis and develop asset reliability strategies.
  • Work with leaders and technicians to prevent recurring failures.
  • Lead projects to enhance asset performance.
  • Support operations and maintenance technicians' skill development.
  • Provide technical support as required for Turnaround activities in assigned areas
  • Troubleshooting of mechanical-related problems and leverage of root cause analysis techniques to determine the appropriate repair scopes

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

What Will Put You Ahead

  • 2+ years of experience in reliability engineering or related role
  • 2+ years experience in a refining/petro-chemical/manufacturing facility

This role is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship.

For this role, we anticipate paying $90,0000- $120,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
