Job Description

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, provide day and/or night unlock/lock up services at City facilities and park locations.

SUPERVISION:
Reports To: Custodial Maintenance Supervisor, Lead Maintenance Custodian or designee
Supervises: None

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Unlock/lock park bathrooms, park gates, and other City facilities as assigned, alert security personnel of unauthorized or suspicious individuals or activities on property.
  • Turn lights on and off at park bathrooms and other City facilities as assigned.
  • May assist in providing security services during the performance of custodial duties as needed.
  • May assist in facility maintenance, repairs, and other duties on occasion

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of safety and security practices, procedures, and protocols.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License.
  • Successfully pass a background check and driving record check.

  • Observe and report safety hazards and need for maintenance and repair.

  • Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and involves moving throughout facilities and community areas in all weather conditions.
  • Lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds on occasion.
  • Perform moderate physical activity and physical labor regularly.
  • Perform extensive physical activity and physical labor on occasion.
  • Work evenings, weekends and/or holidays as assigned.

Recruitment Process:
The screening process will include a review of minimum qualifications and applicants selected for an interview will be invited via email to self-schedule a time through the Government Jobs account. At minimum, this position will be subject to a standard criminal background check and professional reference check. This position requires driving and is also subject to a driving record check from the WA State Dept. of Licensing (or other state equivalent). Driving records will be evaluated based on a points system depending on the infraction and severity.
