Job Description

Ellumen, named a three-time Top Workplace by the Washington Post, is a small business headquartered in Silver Spring, MD. We provide a broad spectrum of information technology and ancillary services to government and commercial customers primarily within the healthcare delivery domain.

We seek an experienced Patient Safety Analyst to support Ellumen's contract with the US Air Force located at the Headquarters Air Mobility Command at Scott Air Force Base, IL. This position provides support services to the Clinical Policy office to ensure patient safety efforts are met throughout the patient movement continuum. Occasional travel may be required as determined by the government.

Responsibilities

  • Provides guidance to internal and external entities related to strategic, organizational-wide, and tactical-level processes to mitigate risks of preventable medical events by conducting proactive risk assessment (PRA) activities or health care PRAs.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise on applicable governing documents to include: DODI 6025.13, Medical Quality Assurance and Clinical Quality Management in the Military Health System; AFI 44-119; USTCI 4200.04 Global Patient Movement Operations Series, related to GPM; Medical Quality Operations; DAFI 48-107 Aerospace Medicine series related to ERC and AE.
  • Shall maintain current and working knowledge and experience with DoD mandated patient reporting systems such as Patient Safety Reports (PSR). Provide consultation on how the PSP collects, compiles, and analyses PSR data to identify system and process issues that could have or did result in harm and assist in the clarification of each reported event with the supported, supporting and relevant organizations in cooperation with USTRANSCOM and make recommendations to USTRANSCOM/SG and AMC/SG for the level of assessment required.
  • Coordinate with the ERC-AE units and organizations to ensure they conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on any patient safety events.
  • Collaborate with all other PS programs personnel on items/issues related to qualitative and quantitative data analysis, risk identification, risk assessment, and risk control.
  • Stay abreast of national and DoD patient safety initiatives and impacts on the ERC-AE system.
  • Coordinate with the medical units and clinical personnel who interact with the ERC-AE system to ensure they complete implementation of required training through various DoD training venues.
  • Participate in reviews of all RCAs and subsequently provide constructive feedback to the applicable unit and/or organizational leadership, and the PSPM.
  • Collect and review all ERC-AE unit annual appraisals and report on the adequacy of organization-


wide PS activities/policies/ procedures.

  • Design, test and produce standard quantitative and ad-hoc reports from current databases.



Qualifications

  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • College degree in nursing, health care administration, health care informatics, data analysis


or equivalent preferred

  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in the healthcare industry or equivalent is required
  • Must possess experience working within the ERC-AE patient movement system
  • Must possess the ability to work collaboratively with risk management and quality
  • Must possess ability to organize time and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with PSRs and/or JPSRs
  • Knowledge of Global Patient Movement Systems
  • Previous work with Government customers such as USAF or DoD preferred
