TSC is seeking a Production Operations / Operational Excellence Manager to lead our growing Department of Defense (DoD) programs in Huntsville, AL. This role is responsible for overseeing complex manufacturing operations, including custom antennas, RF systems, embedded software, and other advanced defense technologies. The ideal candidate is a strategic and hands-on leader who will drive production efficiency, quality, delivery performance, and operational scalability while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making. Key Responsibilities
- Lead production operations supporting DoD programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals for quality, cost, and delivery.
- Implement Lean and Six Sigma best practices to improve throughput, increase first pass yield (FPY), eliminate bottlenecks, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Establish and champion a data-driven culture by developing KPI frameworks and leading weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews (WBR/MBR/QBR), along with all-hands operational metrics.
- Track, analyze, and report key performance indicators including on-time delivery, yield, cycle time, production cost, and capacity utilization.
- Establish and lead structured problem-solving initiatives (e.g., Kaizen events) to drive productivity improvements and operational excellence using the TSC problem-solving process.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Program Management to execute the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process, improving forecast accuracy and capacity planning.
- Support the master production schedule, ensuring coordination across manufacturing, stockroom, and warehousing functions.
- Lead production capacity planning, floor layout strategy, and workflow optimization to support current and future program growth.
- Partner with engineering teams to drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and ensure production readiness for new products.
- Define and standardize operational procedures, roles, responsibilities, and cross-functional workflows.
- Leverage ERP, MES, and PLM systems to enable data-driven decisions and enhance operational reporting capabilities.
- Lead Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives to minimize downtime of critical testing equipment and continuously improve asset availability.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration across manufacturing, engineering, quality, supply chain, and program management teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations, manufacturing, or a related technical field
- 8+ years of experience managing production, operations, or engineering teams within a manufacturing environment.
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Experience executing SIOP, developing KPIs, and leading cross-functional coordination across manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change initiatives with strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA and/or PMP certification.
- Strong understanding of electronics manufacturing processes.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience leading Kaizen, Lean, or Six Sigma improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with Costpoint, PowerBI, FactoryLogix, and PLM tools such as Teamcenter.
- Background in cost accounting, lab management, or scaling production/start-up operations.
