Description MaineHealth Behavioral Health (MHBH) is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Research Director to join our Department of Psychiatry. Position Highlights - Research Director, Department of Psychiatry:
- Collaborates closely with the Chief, MaineHealth Behavioral Health / Chair, Department of Psychiatry to advance all departmental missions
- Provides strategic leadership for research across MaineHealth Behavioral Health and the Department of Psychiatry
- Oversees and mentors faculty, fellows, residents, and medical students in scholarly and research activities
- Ensures compliance with ethical, regulatory, and institutional research standards
- Maintains an active independent research program while prioritizing the growth of departmental research capacity
- Develops and implements innovative strategies to promote faculty research productivity and achievement
- Builds and sustains a diverse portfolio of research projects engaging faculty and trainees across the department
- Identifies, secures, and maintains extramural funding from governmental and non-governmental sources
- Serves as the department's research representative of the department and work to leverage research opportunities within: MaineHealth Behavioral Health, MaineHealth Institute for Research, Tufts University, and the broader MaineHealth community
- Represents the Department of Psychiatry at national governmental and non-governmental organizations to expand research partnerships
- Plays a key role in faculty, staff, and trainee recruitment, with emphasis on research excellence and growth
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Doctoral degree (MD, PhD, PsyD, ScD, DrPH) in relevant discipline.
- Experience: Eight or more years of applicable experience within the field and discipline. Completion of post-doctoral training or research fellowship.
- Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Excellent written and verbal skills as demonstrated by a strong record of scientific publications and presentations. Eligible or at rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor. Must possess a working knowledge of federal regulations, compliance policy, and human subjects protections as they relate to the conduct of a wide variety of research projects.
- Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Advanced statistical training with working knowledge of multiple analytic programs (SPSS, SAS, R, Stata, Excel, etc.) preferred
