The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to join ourElectrical Construction team in Spokane. In this role, you will leadestimatingwork with sales,engineeringand operations teams. Additionally, some responsibilities you will have include:

Bid Strategies

  • Includes value engineering cost savings in project estimate whereappropriate.
  • Review bid packages before submission
  • Preparesconceptual estimates and budgets when needed.

Estimates

  • Responsible for reviewing general and special conditions and other front-end documents to ensure cost estimates include the effect of those conditions on the
    project.
  • Responsible for reviewing subcontractor quotes for completeness.
  • Maintains current and historical construction cost and bid result databases for reference.
  • Reviews technical specifications and plansso as tofully understandscopeofworkanticipatedandrequiredelements of estimate/proposal.
  • Prepares scope letters and sends them to customers and prospective bidders.
  • Provides technical support andassistanceto various disciplines.

Project Estimates

  • Leads project estimating programs and scheduling.
  • Responsible for project estimates based upon conceptual and/or schematic descriptions of scope for various disciplines, general construction tasks, and/or major
    design-build projects.
  • Implements value engineering and constructability practices within given estimates.

Communication

  • Works with the Chief Estimator toidentifyand secure a prospective business consistent with the company's strategy.
  • Leads in discussions and meetings with subcontractors, vendors, architects, customers, and other personnel.
  • Identifiesand understands client and project requirements and develops a comprehensive solution set, including detailed narratives and budget spreadsheets.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, construction management or related fieldrequiredor equivalent work experience.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in estimating and conceptual estimating.
  • Must havedemonstratedproficiencyin all responsibilities of an estimator.
  • Must havedemonstratedabilityto do both conceptual estimating as well as take-off estimates.
  • Working knowledge ofAccubid, preferred
  • Knowledge of buildingsystems, andapplicationsand how to successfully apply that knowledge to solve client and project requirementsrequired.
  • Knowledge of project Financials and reporting policies preferred.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • Must havedemonstratedproficiencyfor all responsibilities ofestimator.
  • Must havedemonstratedabilityto do both conceptual estimating as well as take-off estimates.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, construction management or related fieldrequiredor equivalent work experience.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in estimating and conceptualestimating forprojects $15 million dollars and larger isrequired.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel and Outlookrequired; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Trimble/Quickpenand/orQuotesoftestimating software and databaserequired.
  • Knowledge of building systems,applicationsand how to successfully apply that knowledge to solve client and project requirementsrequired.
  • Knowledge of project Financials and reporting policies preferred.

The pay range for this position is$93,600 - $147,060per year; however,basepay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits,dependenton the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
