Overview:
Supports project teams by performing basic design and technical tasks that apply standard techniques and developing professional knowledge under general supervision. With a Digital Practice focus, contributes to day-today digital workflow execution by maintaining organized and accurate project models, applying firmwide digital standards, and supporting coordinated project delivery. Demonstrates fluency in digital tools used for design and documentation, contributes to projectspecific digital content, and supports collaboration through disciplined digital practices. Eager to learn, highly organized, and motivated to contribute creatively, while recognizing and appropriately escalating digital workflow challenges to Digital Practice Specialists to support shared accountability for quality, consistency, and efficiency across the project team.
Responsibilities:
- Performs routine architectural assignments and technical assignments under direction, applying standard architectural techniques, procedures, and collaborative design methods may have some design responsibility collaborating with other team members as designated
- Supports project teams with day-to-day digital workflow tasks, including model organization, file management, view and sheet control, documentation setup, and adherence to established digital practice standards
- Maintains model health and project data integrity by managing organized digital files, project information, work sets, views, and sheets in alignment with firm standards and templates.
- Assist in developing and modifying project-specific digital content, such as views, sheets, schedules, details, and custom components, while meeting project needs and maintaining consistency with digital practice guidelines
- Participates in digital coordination with other disciplines by preparing files, exporting data, and supporting model exchange processes
- Applies quality control practices to digital work products to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in documents generated from digital models
- Demonstrates developing fluency in the digital applications and platforms used at HKS to support modeling, documentation, coordination, visualization, and data exchange
- Identifies digital workflow issues or inefficiencies and escalates them appropriately following established digital practice procedures
- Coordinates with Digital Practice Specialists when unique project conditions require non-standard content or workflows and supports the implementation of those solutions within the project model
- Participates in team meetings to discuss project issues, design and technical issues and coordination with other disciplines
- May assist in preparing proposals, presentations, schedules and processing of implementation documentation and samples
- May attend on-site visits, field reviews and client and/or project meetings as appropriate
- Develops an understanding of how disciplined digital workflows support collaboration, coordination, and effective project delivery across teams
Qualifications: Education and Experience
- Accredited professional degree in Architecture or related field required
- Typically 0-3 years of experience
Licenses and Certifications
- On the path to Architectural Registration
- Sustainable design accreditation preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Advanced - expert-level experience, knowledge or skills Intermediate - experience, knowledge or skills required to produce high-quality solutions or work Basic - familiar with primary concepts or capabilities and may perform elementary functions depending on role
- Basic skills in Revit, Rhino and Grasshopper required; intermediate preferred
- Basic skills in Bluebeam, Twinmotion, Enscape or other visualization tools required
- Basic knowledge of Navisworks and Dynamo required
- Basic skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign required
- Basic skills in MS Office Suite required
- Basic knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines required
- Basic knowledge of materials, construction techniques, building codes and QA/QC process required
- Basic presentation, graphic and visualization skills to communicate ideas required
- Basic experience with the entire project lifecycle through post-occupancy required
- Basic ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing required
- Basic ability to problem solve and collaborate on innovative solutions required
- Basic ability to work in a team environment required
- Basic ability to work on multiple projects at the same time required
- Basic ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality required
- Travel may be required.
