Job Description

Puget Sound Energy's Internal Communications team is seeking a Communications Initiative Program Manager to connect employees to our mission and their role in our clean energy transformation. In this role, you'll deliver consistent, timely messaging through diverse channels that celebrates contributions, links daily work to our strategy, and tells stories that build pride and belonging across our entire workforce. You'll also play a key supporting role in enhancing trust between leadership and employees through thoughtful meeting support, event coordination and targeted communications initiatives that build genuine connection and demonstrate leadership's commitment to listening and responding.



In this role, you will serve as a trusted communications advisor to partners across PSE, collaborating to identify goals and develop plans that drive employee engagement. You'll help internal customers navigate communication challenges with creativity and strategic thinking, while working with cross-functional teams to implement plans that inform and inspire our workforce.



A typical day will include:



  • Writing, reviewing, and publishing compelling content across multiple channels, from executive messages to employee communications
  • Supporting daily content needs while maintaining PSE's voice for diverse audiences, from office employees to field crews
  • Identifying creative ways to connect employees with PSE's business priorities and testing new communication approaches that work for our unique workforce

Job Responsibilities


  • Develops and implements communications components and/or public outreach of strategic company projects, initiatives and issues, providing support to other initiative teams as needed.



  • Identifies opportunities to evolve PSE's communication strategies and approaches, including new technology, engagement strategies and processes.



  • Performs emergency and storm duties.



  • Performs other duties as assigned.





For internal communications work, this includes such things as:



  • Partnering with internal departments to understand their communications goals and work to deliver on them through internal channels.
  • Leading the development of internal communications pieces, such as emails, regular newsletters, internal web content and others, as needed.
  • Leading the employee engagement work, including our employee volunteer program and employee giving campaign.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, media, business innovation, marketing, strategic leadership/management or related field, and 5 years relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in managing increasingly complex projects with cross-functional teams and in an ever-changing and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage projects, work with other departmental teams and deliver on commitments.
  • Ability to contribute effectively in peer management teams.
  • Skills and experience in collaboration and team building.
  • Practical and successful application of community or employee engagement strategies and tactics including the use of new media applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with community outreach and comfort with engaging directly with customers.
  • Extremely detail oriented. Ability to track project status for multiple projects.
  • Ability to raise issues and concerns in a respectful and collaborative manner.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfortable working through conflict.
  • Ability to problem-solve and be creative when working with Project Managers and teams to find solutions on behalf of our customers.
  • Strong focus on customer service.
  • Experience working in a team-based organizational structure.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to operate in a remote office with leadership at corporate headquarters.
  • Light graphic design.
  • Experience coordinating and/or managing relationships with outside vendors.
  • Marketing/sales experience.
  • Broad knowledge of gas and electric utility rates, business objectives, to include operations, customer service, finance, and corporate relations.

The pay range for this position is$80,200.00-$115,800.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
