Position Description

This position performs a wide range of supervisory activities. An Operations Supervisor oversees the safe production and its processes involving 25 to 30 employees on a shift. The position is responsible for meeting or exceeding daily metrics that include, but not limited to: safety, quality, delivery, cost and productivity. In addition, the position is responsible for overseeing and managing the training and qualification for production. The position is also responsible for adhering to the Modine Values, leading by example, and creating a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Actively and effectively coach and develop his/her direct reports.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining a positive and engaging culture with all team members.
  • Receive and act on verbal and written information from the plant manager, general supervisor, other members of leadership, and employees.
  • Establish shift budget.
  • Maintaining daily management boards.
  • Check (daily) on the department production needs and assure that parts are on hand for the work force when they arrive.
  • Write maintenance work orders for necessary machine repairs and follow up on the work order to minimize down time or faulty operation of the equipment.
  • Resolve employee relation differences and handle the initial step involving employee complaints.
  • Maintain Safety and OSHA standards and regulations on hazardous material within the assigned departments.
  • Work closely with engineering and tooling to resolve machinery problems and ensure that manufacturing instructions are correct for all operations and to resolve tooling related problems.
  • Maintain required production level in assigned area.
  • Direct work force and assignment of jobs to be performed, and best utilization of manpower.
  • Develop and maintain harmonious working relationships.
  • Administer work rules (handbook) in handling employment issues and discipline procedures.
  • Keep labor and material usage within departmental budget. Assign work as needed.
  • Instruct and train employees.
  • Monitor workforce to assure they are performing at satisfactory levels.
  • Provide necessary equipment and tools to safely and properly perform production jobs.
  • Monitor equipment and facility systems to insure adequate performance and take corrective measures.
  • Inspect employee output to insure conformance with quality and quantity standards.
  • Direct others in response to emergencies, including fire or natural calamity.
  • Provide emergency care for injured or ill employees, including CPR if needed.
  • Work rotating eight hour shifts (1st, 2nd, or 3rd ) as assigned.
  • Work periodic daily and weekend overtime as production schedules demand.
  • Other essential functions as may be assigned.
Required Education & Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • Supervisory Experience: 1- 3 Years Manufacturing Experience
