Position Description:

The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform other assigned duties.

Position Responsibilities:




  • Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift.
  • Assist ground spotter to lay 4x4 lumber.
  • Calculate and maintain accurate lumber footages.
  • Retain and deliver location tracker identification tags to appropriate location.
  • Responsible for removal of waste from dumpsters and trash barrels using forklift.
  • Maintain forklifts, complete routine inspections, and regular fuel checks.
  • Maintain the facility's equipment and materials in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods and JSA.
  • Identify and report facility equipment damages and safety concerns to Supervisor immediately.
  • Required to perform other job functions as assigned.


Required QUALIFICATIONS AND Experience:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Forklift driving experience preferred
  • Must be able to pass basic math exam
  • Must pass Forklift driver exam - written and driving segments.
  • Must have commendable safety record.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Must have basic knowledge in reading, writing and arithmetic.
  • Vision must meet Arkansas State vision screening standards for license to drive.
  • Must be able hear and communicate through radio.
  • Must be able to hear sounds from 25 feet away for safety
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, a minimum of 10 times per shift.
  • Must be able to lift and pull components up to 25 lbs. on a consistent basis.
  • Must be able to navigate up and down 3 stair steps a minimum of every 5-10 minutes for ten hours.
  • Must be able to work in outside weather conditions including heat and cold.
  • Must be able to wear proper personal protective equipment.



Working Conditions and Environment:

The work environment includes exposure to high decibels of noise, temperature, weather variations, metal welding processes and chemicals, which may include solvents, undercoating, paint, and caulking. Fast paced environment with moving equipment and motorized vehicles running at all times.
