OVERVIEW

The Printing Lead plays a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing the operations of a dynamic printing team. This position requires an experienced, hands-on leader with a strong background in flexographic printing. The Printing Lead ensures production quality, safety standards, and operational efficiency, while fostering a collaborative environment. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced setting and is passionate about mentoring and developing talent.

SHIFT

1st: 6:00 am - 2:30pm (currenty working 10 hour shifts)

PAY RANGE $24.20 - $38.72 hourly

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Press Operations & Setup: Lead the setup and operation of presses to meet customer and ASR quality specifications. Make necessary job changes (e.g., cleaning the press, changing cylinders, mounting plates, setting up ink pumps, etc.).
  • Production Oversight: Ensure that production speeds are maintained at optimal levels while minimizing waste. Conduct regular quality checks to meet product standards and customer requirements.
  • Ink & Materials Management: Mix, tone, and adjust inks as necessary. Ensure materials are properly staged and inventory levels are managed efficiently.
  • Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment. Lead by example in safety practices and ensure that all team members adhere to safety standards.
  • Training & Development: Train and mentor new operators in press operation and safety procedures, ensuring they meet performance and quality expectations.
  • Track team performance and ensure deadlines are met while adhering to quality standards.
  • Lead and guide the press crew, ensuring they work cohesively to address any production, minor maintenance, or housekeeping needs.
  • Basic Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance tasks, including lubrication and inspections, to keep the presses running smoothly.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve production issues, including equipment malfunctions or quality control problems. Report risks or deviations in product quality, equipment, or raw materials to management immediately.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth workflow and production goals are met.
  • Serve as the person in charge in the absence of the print manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.



REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS



  • Industry Experience: Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in wide-web flexographic printing.
  • Proven ability to lead a team, with experience in conflict resolution and motivating employees to meet production goals.
  • Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of flexographic printing processes, equipment, and tools. Comfortable handling machine setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Process Improvement Focus: Results-driven with a keen eye for efficiency and quality. Ability to assess production processes and implement improvements.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work cross-functionally with other teams, as well as train and support new operators.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when it comes to product quality and safety compliance.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly.



EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS



  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY



  • This position assists the Printing manager in supervising/leading department operations
