Unit Description: The experienced wound care team at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital provides a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to wound management for patients.
- Provides case management to a group of patients providing specific assessments according to protocols and procedures, clinical competence in procedural skills, treatments, and patient/caregiver education related to wound care management, and acts as patient advocate in delivery and coordination of patient care.
- Provides efficient and effective care with the guidance of the physician during the clinic sessions, attends the clinics where scheduled and is dependable.
- Able to manage a number of patients at the same time with high energy and organization.
- Collaborates with other health care providers, wound care center Physicians, Program Director and Medical director, regarding clinic and patient needs.
Education/Skills Required: 1. Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. 2. Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. 3. BLS will be required if required to supervise hyperbaric treatments. 4. BSN in Nursing or related field preferred. 5. Current Wound Certification preferred. 6. Wound vac competence preferred. 7. Minimum of 3 years relevant clinical experience required. 8. Excellent communication skills including skills in voice control/tone, body language, manners, attitude, accuracy and listening with attention to detail. 9. Required to be a demonstrated team member and demonstrate leadership qualities. 10. Excellent computer skills with computerized nursing documentation, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Powerpoint and Excel. 11. Ability to anticipate, prioritize, perform and complete multiple job responsibilities in a timely manner. 12. Meets requirements of physical/pre-placement screening. 13. Full time and part time positions for the Wound Center may be required to attend Healogics corporate training to complete Hyperbaric and Wound Care citification prior to supervision of hyperbaric oxygen treatments. Per Diem staff will be exempt from this requirement.
As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided. Requirements:
- Current RN licensure recognized by the State of New York required.
- Appropriate experience in specific clinical area. Varies by unit.
