Who We Look For

As a Payments Business Analyst, you will be a strategic leader at the intersection of product, technology, and business operations. You will take ownership of defining and driving the functional vision for our most complex payment solutions, serving as a subject matter expert and a critical link between senior business stakeholders and our engineering organization. You will be responsible for translating high-level strategic objectives into a well-defined actionable backlog, comprised of epics and user stories that guide the development of robust, scalable, and compliant payment systems.

Your expert-level knowledge of the global payments ecosystem-spanning multiple payment rail schemes such as Fedwire, FedACH, CHAPS, SEPA, RTP, and CHIPS, and encompassing batch, RTGS, and real-time payment models-is fundamental to your success. You will not only analyze existing processes but will proactively identify and champion strategic opportunities for innovation, automation, and competitive differentiation.

How You Will Fulfill Your Potential

  • Lead the elicitation, critical analysis, and strategic documentation of complex business and functional requirements for large-scale payment initiatives.
  • Define and own the translation of strategic business needs into clear, well-formed epics and detailed user stories, ensuring they align with the product roadmap and architectural vision.
  • Drive and influence cross-functional teams, including senior leaders in product, engineering, operations, and legal/compliance, to achieve consensus and secure buy-in on key solution designs and priorities.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and key strategic liaison, providing authoritative guidance on payment systems, industry trends, and regulatory changes to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Mentor and guide junior business analysts, fostering best practices in requirements gathering, documentation, and Agile methodologies.
  • Define and oversee the end-to-end User Acceptance Testing (UAT) strategy for major product releases, ensuring comprehensive test coverage and validating that solutions meet complex business and regulatory mandates.
  • Own the full lifecycle of strategic projects. This includes conducting deep-dive analyses of existing workflows, defining the vision for automated and optimized future-state processes, and driving the implementation from concept through to adoption to achieve significant gains in straight-through processing (STP) and reductions in operational risk.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional experience as a business analyst, with a significant focus on payments, financial technology, or corporate banking.
  • Extensive, hands-on experience leading requirements definition and creating epics/user stories for complex, large-scale payment platforms or products.
  • Expert-level knowledge including deep understanding of the technical and operational nuances of the FedACH payment scheme and other payment schemas like RTGS (e.g., Fedwire, CHAPS), ACH/Low-Value (e.g., SEPA), and Real-Time Payments (e.g., RTP, FedNow).
  • Proven track record of leading and delivering complex, cross-functional payment initiatives from conception to launch in a fast-paced, Agile environment (Scrum/Kanban).
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring junior team members and leading project workstreams.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with executive-level stakeholders.
  • A highly analytical and strategic mindset, with the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and take ownership of outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in designing and optimizing payment operational workflows, including reconciliation, exception handling, and investigations.
  • Experience leading vendor selection processes, integrations, and managing strategic relationships with key technology partners (like Volante, Finastra, Volante, ACI Worldwide, Fircosoft).
  • In-depth knowledge of the global regulatory landscape impacting payments, such as PSD2/PSD3, Open Banking, ISO 20022 migration, and AML/sanctions screening requirements.
  • Proven experience in defining solutions for compliance, audit, or SOX controls within a financial institution.
  • Strong background in corporate cash management, treasury services, or correspondent banking.
  • Experience presenting business cases, strategic recommendations, and project updates to executive leadership.
