Summary: Provides assistance to the Principal Investigator and Study Team in coordinating research activities that may include conducting a variety of routine experiments with established methodologies, data collection and management, and other research activities as assigned.

Essential Functions:
- Responsible for data collection, management, manipulation, analysis, and reporting.
- Study cohort management.
- Outreach communication with subjects, conducting mailings, follow-up on mailings, and obtaining necessary documents.
- Provides assistance on work related to epidemiological studies and other population-based research.

Education
Bachelor's Degree Science required

Experience
New grad with some relevant coursework 0-1 year preferred

- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Careful attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.
- Computer literacy, including database tools.
- Ability to follow directions and exhibit professionalism.

General Overview: Works under general supervision on multiple clinical studies in multiple sclerosis, including a large-scale, longitudinal study.Responsible for subject recruitment, subject enrollment, data collection, and data management.

Primary Duties:

  • Recruits, screens, enrolls, obtains informed consent, and follows subjects as part of a large-scale, longitudinal natural history study.
  • Abstracts medical information from patient records and interviews.
  • Prepares monthly calendars and reminders.
  • Organizes study blood draws and collection of other biologic samples.
  • Administers and scores battery of cognitive and psychosocial tests.
  • Maintains patient study files, electronic study database, and tracking system for study participants.
  • Assists with Institutional Review Board submissions, including annual reviews and study amendments.
  • Performs frequent audits to ensure the integrity of study data.
  • Prepares enrollment updates, participates in study meetings, and prepares study data for analysis and publication.
  • Prepares study kits, keeps track of inventory, and orders study supplies.
  • Serves as backup for several investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored studies. Backup responsibilities include recruiting and enrolling patients, obtaining informed consent, scheduling visits, and administering cognitive tests.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with study participants.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of clinical research protocols.
  • Knowledge of computer programs, databases, etc.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.
  • Careful attention to detail.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect for subjects' rights and individual needs.
