HDR is seeking a Senior Strategic Communications Coordinator to join our growing program and lead engagement efforts for transportation and water projects across Minnesota. We're looking for an experienced communications professional passionate about strategic communications and stakeholder engagement-particularly in these industries.

As a natural connector, you'll build strong relationships, understand client priorities, and develop tailored strategies that drive meaningful engagement. This role requires expertise in public involvement, public relations, and community engagement, along with the ability to listen, craft unique approaches, and identify team synergies to solve complex challenges.
You'll collaborate closely with HDR project managers and technical staff, translating technical concepts into clear, accessible content for diverse audiences. You'll also join an industry-leading practice of more than 200 communication consultants across North America, delivering strategic communications services that strengthen our clients' messaging and engagement strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the architecture and engineering consulting industry
  • Previous experience working in the transportation, wastewater, drinking water and/or water resources industries
  • Previous consulting or account management experience preferred
  • Preference given to local candidates
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in person, by telephone, and via email
  • Must be able to independently get yourself to meetings and events
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of 8 years relevant industry experience
  • Experience leading social media campaigns
  • Service- and client-oriented personality with the ability to handle multiple assignments at a time and set and meet deadlines
  • Self-starter; can work well independently or in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
