The University of Minnesota's Office of Information Technology seeks a DevOps Engineer for the Identity & Access Management (IAM) team. Our ideal candidate will have strengths in
CI/CD, secrets management, source control management, build/deploy applications, infrastructure as code, and enterprise production experience using containers (e.g. Docker or Kubernetes). This position requires excellent communication skills, motivation, self-direction, commitment, integrity, ability to multitask, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and knowledge of system integration tools and techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Support transition from on premise services to cloud based services
  • Build, implement and/or maintain automation tools
  • Participate in IAM on-call team
  • Perform regular operational maintenance (e.g. patching, credential rotation, certificate management)
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems across multiple systems/platforms (including across organizational boundaries)
  • Participate in code reviews, troubleshoot issues, ensure quality software delivery, and maintain a stable system in a DevOps environment.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience or a Master's degree
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Delivery systems (Azure Devops, Jenkins or equivalent)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Chef, Ansible or equivalent)
  • Experience with Secrets Management (Hashicorp Vault, Azure Key Vault or equivalent)
  • Experience with Linux System Administration (Red Hat Enterprise Linux preferred)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in a compliance-heavy environment (e.g. PCI, HIPAA, FERPA).
  • Experience with SQL databases (Oracle, MySQL)
  • Experience with Cloud Service Providers (Azure or AWS)
  • Experience with Containerization (Docker or equivalent)
  • Experience with Configuration Management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet or equivalent)
  • Experience with integration tools (Boomi, Power Automate or equivalent)
  • Experience with shell scripting (sh, bash) and proficient with one other programming language (Python/Ruby/Go/Perl)
  • Intermediate Networking experience (Ex. TCP/IP, UDP, Routing, Firewalls, F5 load-balancers)
  • Working knowledge of Agile framework
  • Understanding of fundamental programming languages
  • Experience with version control tools (Git, Artifactory or similar)
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $94,000 - $100,000 annually; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
