Summary:

This role is responsible for the development and execution of sourcing strategies for direct and assigned indirect categories including direct materials, contract manufacturing, and professional services.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an individual assigned to this job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead strategic sourcing and procurement of category-based initiatives for assigned categories to develop strategies- identify long-term risk, research market intelligence, and select suitable partners/suppliers that will provide an overall long-term value including risk mitigation and reduce total cost of ownership.
  • Lead request for proposals (RFP), evaluate the proposal, and provide a recommendation with strategic suppliers to participate based on business requirements.
  • Develop and sustain strong supplier relationships with key suppliers to ensure a continuous supply of products and services.
  • Identify and negotiate mid to higher-level complex supply agreements for responsible areas of spend and act as an expert resource for business partners to ensure the consistency between the technical specifications, vendor proposals, favorable terms, and contractual terms which will add value to the organization.
  • Engage early in new product development projects to enable best and strategic supplier selections and engagement.
  • Lead projects while working in a collaborative environment, providing support and guidance to ensure strategic sourcing is effectively serving internal stakeholders.
  • Work independently to provide additional value and process improvements.
  • Prepare and execute complex negotiations, aligned with business objectives (for ex: time to market, best Total Cost of Ownership to obtain the best value prices, terms, and lead times for services and goods
  • Identify cost savings opportunities, align with the business partners, and manage the project to execution to deliver cost savings targets of the department.
  • Develop a strong partnership with business leads from area including but not limited to manufacturing, R&D, Quality, and Sales/Marketing to understanding business needs and align on objectives and timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with global policies and processes in close collaboration with Procurement Leadership.
  • Ensure SOX 404 compliance for purchasing processes
  • Lead daily Purchasing functions including:
  1. Participate actively in material requirement planning/S&OP discussions and appropriately coordinate purchase orders for approval in compliance with company policies.
  2. Maintain vendor master list in ERP system and ensure appropriate documentation.
  3. Analyze outstanding purchase orders continuously to ensure on-time delivery and expedite, as necessary.
  4. Work closely with the Accounts Payable department and internal customers to ensure timelines of vendor payments and resolutions of problem PO's/Invoices.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role has supervisory responsibilities.

Interaction:

Works closely with Business partners (R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, IT, HR, Finance, Legal), Operations team members, and suppliers


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS in a related field required
  • Graduate degree in Business preferred
  • APICS, CPM, and/or NAPM certificate or other procurement certificates a plus
  • 7 years of strategic sourcing and procurement experience required
  • Industry experience in cGMP/regulated industry such as medical device, life sciences, pharmaceutical, defense, and/or biotechnology required. Medical Device experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with indirect goods and services in a cGMP environment required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required

Pay Transparency

The base pay range for this role is $120,000 annually to $165,000 annually.
The range is what we reasonably expect to pay for this role. The range considers a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: geographic markets, business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience, training, licensure, and certifications.
