Summary:

Central Sterile Technician III
plays a crucial role in preventing infection by sterilizing, cleaning,
processing, assembling, storing, and distributing medical supplies. In general,
is an expert at resolving and preventing infection of patients through
decontaminating, processing, and distributing supplies and equipment to
departments.

Responsibilities:
1. Performs all functions of the Central Sterile Tech II.
2.Assists supervisor in day-to-day activities to include answering phones and daily assignments.
3.Communicates closely with teammates concerning instrument requirements and availability
4. Verifies that required instrumentation has been sterilized and available for next-shift.
5. Documents broken instrumentation. Completes documentation as required for instrument sets, etc. (case cart, post case, and tray audits) May assist in sending broken equipment out for repair,
6. Orients, precepts and mentors trainees and technician I/IIs.
7. Shares knowledge with teammates through open communication and continuous upgrading skills.
8. Conducts random audits on trays assembled by new teammates and provides re-education with techs on tray errors
9. Serves as a resource by guiding new and current teammates to appropriate resource materials.
10. Assists with annual competency checklist.
11. Verifies sterilization documentation for accurac.
12. Tracks and monitors loads, documentation and tray error.
13. Maintains tracking system which includes but not limited to: updating instrumentation, creating new products and updating count sheets.
14. Aids in completing in services for new products or processes
15. Demonstrates proficiency in all areas of CPD to include but not limited to, decontamination, assembly, sterilizers, storage, and HLD.

Education Requirements:
* None required as long as other position qualifications are met
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* Yellow Belt required after twelve (12) months.
* Required to hold Instrument Specialist certification.
* Central Sterile Certification required after twelve (12) months.
Professional Experience Requirements:
* Requires two (years) of central sterile tech experience.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
* Working knowledge of sterilizers, washer decontaminates, cart washers, and patient care equipment.
* General knowledge of basic and specialty surgical instruments, implants, patient related supplies, materials and equipment, aseptic and sterilization techniques.
* Mechanical aptitude with the ability to break down moving parts, clean, lubricate and reassemble, problem solve incomplete trays and missing instrumentation.
* Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to prioritize and multitask.
* Knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology.
* Knowledge and understanding of a variety of OR procedures' surgical instruments including working parts and proper inspection.
* Aptitude for troubleshooting in a high-paced environment.
