Description

The Interactive Design Lead is responsible for designing, building, and owning the interactive experiences and assets that power Leidos' digital, experiential, and customer-facing storytelling. This role combines hands-on creation with platform-level leadership, shaping how interactive experiences are conceived, executed, and scaled across the enterprise.

The Lead works directly in tools and platforms to create flagship interactive experiences while also defining interaction models, experience architecture, and reusable systems that support web, real-time, immersive, and hybrid environments. This role partners closely with Creative Studio, Digital Technology, Brand Experiences, and external partners to ensure interactive storytelling is intuitive, scalable, and production ready. Responsibilities

Interactive Platform Creation & Ownership

* Design and build interactive experience platforms used across Leidos, including web-based interactive systems and real-time or immersive environments.

* Create hands-on interactive experiences using technologies such as React-based frameworks, Unity, Unreal, or comparable platforms.

* Establish reusable interaction patterns, experience components, and platform conventions that scale across multiple use cases.

Experience Architecture & Interaction Design

* Own interaction models, user journeys, and experience architecture for complex storytelling initiatives.

* Translate narrative intent, brand standards, and technical content into coherent interactive experiences.

* Define information architecture and interaction logic for multi-layered digital and physical experiences.

Hands-On Prototyping & Execution

* Develop functional prototypes and production-ready interactive experiences for flagship or high-impact initiatives.

* Validate experience feasibility, performance, accessibility, and maintainability through direct implementation.

* Guide and review interactive builds to ensure alignment with defined experience standards.

Collaboration & Enablement

* Partner with Creative Technologists and Experience Designers to scale delivery without diluting quality.

* Collaborate with Digital Platform Product Owners to ensure experience needs are reflected in platform roadmaps.

* Mentor designers and technologists through example, guidance, and shared standards rather than people management.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in design, computer science, digital media or related field. Typically requires 12+ years of relevant experience, however for this role candidates must possess 10+ years of experience spanning interactive experience design and creative technology. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree requirements.

* Demonstrated experience building interactive experiences across web and real-time or immersive platforms.

* Strong expertise in interaction design, UX principles, and narrative-driven experiences.

* Hands-on experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React, real-time or immersive platforms such as Unity or Unreal
