Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Employment Type: 6-12 month contract with opportunity for permanent hire
Industry: Transportation Manufacturing
Compensation: $25/hour + 10% shift differential
Schedule: Multiple shifts available - must be flexible with availability for the first few months of training
- 2nd Shift - 2:00 PM-10:30 PM
- 3rd Shift - 10:00 PM-6:30 AM
- All shifts run Monday-Sunday. 5 days will be worked each week for a regular 40-hour per week schedule. Contractors who have hours on weekends will have two weekdays off to make up for it.

About the Opportunity:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a train system, including vehicles, guideway equipment, switches, platform doors, and related subsystems. The role involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, diagnosing equipment failures, replacing defective components, and supporting system reliability and safety. Technicians follow established maintenance procedures, respond to equipment issues in a timely manner, and continuously develop certifications and technical knowledge in both vehicle and wayside systems.

What You'll Do:
- Troubleshoot and identify failure causes; repair or initiate the repair of failed items and perform recovery/corrective or preventive maintenance of train vehicles and wayside subsystems (guideway rail, switches, platform doors) and components.
- Preventive maintenance, inspection, and adjustment tasks and procedures are well established and need normal supervision. Incumbents will follow the direction of higher-level personnel in preventive or corrective maintenance phases of work.
- Associates exercise considerable latitude and open judgment in the troubleshooting and recommended repair of equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair wayside systems, vehicles, and components as assigned.
- Repair or replace defective parts or equipment utilizing manuals, blueprints, schematics, drawings, and other written or verbal instructions.
- Support recovery of malfunctioning vehicles from the system as needed.
- Respond to system failures to recover vehicles and restore system operation.
- Respond to customer requests in a timely fashion
- Assist passengers during emergency operations.
- Conduct thorough and complete preventive maintenance checks on vehicles, wayside, and subsystems as assigned.
- Achieve and maintain all functional certifications in the assigned area.
- Continuous learning and progression through the training program.

What You'll Bring:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintaining and repairing automotive or transportation systems either personally or professionally
- Minimum of 2 years of experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems.
What Sets You Apart:
- Associate Degree or Technical/Trade School Degree showcasing mechanical aptitude
- Experience in the railroad, APM (Automatic People Mover), or transportation industry
- Knowledge of basic electronic theory
- Aptitude for mechanical operations and the operation of equipment
- Knowledge in the use and application of a variety of hand and power tools
- Ability to read and follow instructions.
Additional Information:
- Upon offer of employment, the individual will be subject to a background check and a drug screen

- Willingness to work various shifts, as needed
- The position needs regular exposure to outside weather in challenging environmental conditions.
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. EHS procedures must be followed and proper PPE (provided by the company) must be worn.
- Be able to work from elevated work areas and use ladders, squat, and climb as needed
- Employees may be needed to work in a train yard with live power tails and moving equipment.
