Job Description




As a Security Officer - Chemical Facility - Full Time in Odessa, TX, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Chemical/Petrochemical, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a chemical and/or petrochemical location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will document observations, communicate clearly with site contacts and teammates, and deliver customer-focused assistance to employees and visitors. You will bring our agile, reliable, innovative approach, acting with integrity and contributing through teamwork.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients and site personnel by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a chemical and/or petrochemical location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including alarms, access control issues, and process area concerns.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of buildings, production and/or storage areas, parking areas, and perimeter routes, with working environments and conditions varying by site area.
  • Control access for employees, contractors, and visitors by checking identification, issuing visitor credentials, directing arrivals to designated check-in areas, and following site entry requirements.
  • Monitor gates, doors, and restricted areas to help to deter unauthorized entry and/or prohibited activity, escalating concerns per post orders.
  • Maintain situational awareness using available systems such as cameras, access control panels, and radios, and communicate status updates to supervisors and client contacts.
  • Document observations, incidents, and patrol activities in written and/or electronic logs and reports, including timely notification of unusual conditions.
  • Assist with emergency and abnormal situation procedures such as evacuation support, accountability assistance, and coordination with responding personnel as directed by site protocols.
  • Provide traffic and/or parking guidance as needed for deliveries, contractors, and shift changes, following site rules and direction from client representatives.
  • Support loss prevention and asset protection efforts by observing for suspicious behavior, unsecured doors, and operational anomalies, and reporting findings through the chain of command.
  • Conduct routine checks of fire and/or life systems indicators, spill control areas, and critical infrastructure access points when assigned, and report deficiencies per site policy.
  • Work collaboratively with Allied Universal leadership and site management to follow post orders, maintain professional conduct, and provide consistent security-related service.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
