Scope of Position The Field Construction Manager is responsible for leading the on-site execution of ICS construction projects from development handoff through completion. This role provides direct oversight of subcontracted labor, ensures adherence to project plans and specifications, maintains quality and safety standards, and serves as the primary field representative of ICS. The Field Construction Manager manages day-to-day field operations, resolves issues independently, and collaborates closely with the Project Manager to drive schedule, budget, and performance outcomes. The Field Construction Manager provides on-site supervision of subcontractor labor and oversees the development and daily direction of the Assistant Field Construction Manager (when assigned). This position reports to the Project Manager. This role is field-based at the project site. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities * Lead and manage daily on-site construction activities to ensure efficient execution of project scope, plans, safety requirements, and customer specifications. * Direct and oversee subcontractor labor, including providing hands-on training for unskilled or semi-skilled workers in ICS installation methods and quality expectations. * Serve as the on-site ICS representative, maintaining professional communication with customers, facility staff, subcontractors, and ICS leadership. * Implement the project plan with the Project Manager, including sequencing of work, site logistics, material usage planning, and schedule execution. * Maintain accurate site documentation such as daily progress reports, as-built conditions, issue logs, and material inventory management. * Monitor installation quality and safety compliance, performing routine inspections and driving immediate corrective actions when deficiencies arise. * Identify field challenges and exercise independent judgment to resolve issues or escalate appropriately to the Project Manager. * Coordinate with ICS Development, Project Management, and Operations Support teams to resolve conflicts, clarify scope, and maintain project momentum. * Ensure subcontractor accountability related to productivity, workmanship, housekeeping, conduct, and adherence to facility protocols. * Provide mentoring and guidance to Assistant Field Construction Managers to support their development into full field leadership roles. Required Qualifications *5+ years of experience supervising construction crews, subcontractors, or field installation teams within plumbing, mechanical, electrical, civil, or related environments. * Ability to lead field personnel and provide direction, training, and performance feedback in a dynamic construction setting. * Strong understanding of construction sequencing, site logistics, material usage, and field-level decision making. * Ability to independently manage logistics, planning, and daily decision-making associated with extended field assignments. * Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat; ability to learn customer-required programs and ICS-specific systems. * Ability to work full-time on-site at project locations nationwide, including extended stays (80-100% travel). * Ability to perform physical tasks associated with field installation, including standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. * Ability to work in confined spaces such as mechanical chases within correctional facilities. * Must pass federal and state background checks and drug testing to access secure facilities. * Valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications *Plumbing or electrical trade experience. * Experience managing construction in secure correctional or government environments. * OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Working Conditions: While performing the job duties, you will be working in the field at the currently assigned project location. Your scheduled work hours will be communicated by your manager. Physical Requirements: Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to: * Ability to operate standard office and field equipment. * Ability to stand and walk for long periods on active job sites. * Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. * Ability to physically maneuver through construction environments. * Ability to read documents and communicate clearly with management, field staff, customers, and subcontractors. * Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety vest, safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
