The Data Assistant will help with data collection, basic data analysis, and data organization for the assigned area.

We are seeking to hire up to five Data Assistants to support our new research project, EMBRACE (EMpowering Bereaved youth through Research, Advocacy, Care, and Engagement), which aims to help young adults who have experienced the death of a caregiver. Data assistants will conduct Zoom interviews with up to young adults (ages 18-24) who have experienced the death of a caregiver.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with data collection and data analyses.
  • Provide assistance and support in organizing and summarizing data.
  • Assist with the creation of reports and presentations.
  • Assist with validating data and data collection processes.
  • May perform research or research-related activities related to data.
  • May assist in the design of data collection processes and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

In Addition to the Duties Listed Above

  • Participate in a 10-hour training.
  • Attend twice-monthly team meetings.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all assigned protocols and reporting requirements.
  • The position has an expected project duration of approximately 10 months.


Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience conducting qualitative research;
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks and request clarification for due dates or expectations as needed
  • Comfortable and skilled at interacting with young people who have experienced the loss of a caregiver
  • Ability to assess for distress or mental health needs and refer appropriately
