The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is in search of a dedicated Park Maintenance Worker. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will engage in semi-skilled manual labor related to construction and maintenance tasks at Hickory Run State Park Complex. Your responsibilities will include repairing buildings and facilities using tools from various trades such as carpentry, electrical, and plumbing. Additionally, you will assist in the upkeep and cleaning of vehicles and equipment utilized throughout the park. You will also construct simple forms for cement work, mix and apply cement, and lay stone and block walls. Ground maintenance tasks will involve mowing, cutting weeds, collecting litter, and preparing sites for new turf, as well as planting and caring for trees and shrubs. Furthermore, you will be responsible for painting park structures and ensuring general housekeeping by maintaining cleanliness in restrooms, offices, and other facilities, including performing minor repairs like changing light bulbs and tightening fixtures.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, 37.5 hours/week, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately in March 2027.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch
  • Work schedule will vary to include weekends and holidays as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:
