Job Summary

This grant-funded position supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant at Glendale Community College. The Instructional Services Coordinator Sr. will play a critical role in implementing the I-RISE project by applying strong judgment, tact, discretion, and initiative-particularly when conducting sensitive research and leading project teams. The role works closely with faculty, staff, external partners, and community stakeholders to design and enhance grant-supported programs that advance student success and institutional priorities. The main responsibility of this position is to integrate existing pockets of undergraduate research experiences (UREs) across STEM and STEM-eligible disciplines at GCC to create a centralized and comprehensive undergraduate research program within our Center for Learning, Programs and Resources (CLPR).

Responsibilities include analyzing program and grant data to evaluate effectiveness, quality, and outcomes, and recommending program improvements to ensure compliance, impact, and long-term success. The position provides subject-matter guidance, represents the program on committees, and serves as a liaison between the college and partner organizations.

The role prepares and coordinates a wide range of materials-including grant reports, publications, presentations, correspondence, and program documentation-and oversees the maintenance of records required for grant compliance. Applying project-management principles, the position organizes timelines, monitors progress, and ensures the timely completion of deliverables.

Additional responsibilities include researching best practices; compiling, sorting data to develop clear recommendations; interpreting in order to report information and performance metrics; and managing competing deadlines in a collaborative team environment. This position plays a key role in supporting effective grant operations and advancing the mission of the community college.

Essential Functions

30% Program Coordination & Development - Establish and maintain a centralized repository for URE activities; integrate existing initiatives into a unified program; develop processes for disseminating URE opportunities to students and faculty.

25% Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement - Work with faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners to design, develop, and improve grant-funded programs; foster relationships that support URE expansion and inclusivity.

15% Data Management & Assessment - Create and implement measurement methodologies; collect, and report data on student engagement, outcomes, and program effectiveness; recommend program modifications for continuous improvement.

10% Faculty Support & Development - Coordinate faculty development workshops on inclusive pedagogy and URE best practices; provide guidance and resources for faculty implementing URE.

10% Student Engagement & Outreach - Promote URE opportunities to STEM and STEM-eligible students; support initiatives that broaden participation among underrepresented minority students.

5% Compliance & Documentation - Ensure accurate maintenance of grant files, records, and program materials; assist with reporting requirements and alignment with grant objectives.

5% Other Duties as Assigned - Serve on committees, act as liaison between the college and partner organizations, and perform additional tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, organizational development or directly related field and two years of related experience such as providing advanced program coordination and consultation that includes one or more of the following: planning, development, and/or implementing program projects and activities in area of assignment. A Master's Degree may be required for some assignments.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. One (1) year of program management experience

B. Experience working with undergraduate research. (e.g., completed research, coursework/internship, workshop, assignment, conference or classroom presentation).

C. One (1) year of prior experience working in a community college setting

D. One (1) year of experience evaluating program data (e.g., trends, interventions, best practices), and reporting data and findings.

E. Computer and/or organizational skills (e.g., Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and/or electronic file organization)

F. One (1) year of experience in instructional coordination, academic program development, or related area.

G. Experience with STEM undergraduate research programs or education initiatives (e.g., course, conference presentation with a student, workshop, assignment).

H. One year of relevant full-time MCCCD experience during the previous two years
